Hello guys!

Cleopatra has diarrhea. At first I thought it was because of the sudden change in food. One of my family members gave Cleo the Gentle Digest from Purina without slowly transitioning. I think soon after she ate the meal and it digested, she went to the litter box and started to have bright green diarrhea. It 'seemed' to dissapear yesterday, but I wasn't looking too closely. Well, yesterday she had an accident in my room, and it was definitely diarrhea. It seems she is using the litterbox a little more frequently, but she might just be digging around in it. It's been close to two weeks since she returned, and she didn't have diarrhea until now. Is it likely that she caught something? But this morning I also saw a few drops of a dark substance that could be blood. There is no way I can bring her to any vet until Monday. Do you think she'll be alright until then? I am extremely worried, and I'm not sure what to do. I think she may also have parasites, and I have the medicine, but I don't think I should give it to her now?

I also want to say that she has been eating quite a bit more than usual. Could this upset her stomach?

I have another question. I'm going to try and make her fast for 12 or so hours(she has 2 more hours to go), and I heard Pumpkin and Chicken is a good bland diet for cats? Is that true? How should I go about feeding Pumpkin?

Fasting a cat is not a good idea.  Pumpkin is used for constipation and your cat has diarrhea.  Wouldn't go there. When I was having problems with consistent diarrhea I did some research and found out that adding infant rice cereal to wet cat food could help with that.  I don't remember the ratio but you can google it and see what you find.

I wasn't really 'fasting' her, per say, but letting her stomach digest and get rid of everything inside, and then let it rest for several hours. I heard it was used to constipation, but I also heard it could be used for 'mild diarrhea'. Cleo actually doesn't eat wet cat food, she hates it. I heard that sometimes regular white rice can mess things up even further, so I wasn't sure about that. I think I'll just feed her chicken, and then wean her back on her normal food, since it seems she gets sick now when she eats it.

Actually, I've used pumpkin for both constipation and diarrhea.

The good news is she still has an appetite.  You may want to feed her plain rice and chicken puree which may be easier on her stomach.  I boil chicken and use the broth to cook the rice.  Then I shred the chicken, sans skin, and mix with the rice.  Puree with the food processor.  You can also buy plain chicken baby food.

@tdonline has given good advice.

Pumpkin can be used for either diarrhea or constipation.

The chicken and rice diet is good for settling things down, just don't keep her on it too long as it is not a balanced diet.

Alright, thanks for the info guys! I shall probably just give her chicken for tonight. How much should I give her? Just a tiny bit so it won't upset her stomach further? She definately has not lost her appetite, and lately has been eating more than normal. She is not lethargic and all, and hasn't vomited. The only signs she gives is the diarrhea, really. She does seem more clingy, though. If that's something.

Well, I'm bringing Cleo to the vet tomorrow. Today she has been going to the litterbox and squatting down to urinate. Nothing, or extremely little is coming out. The reason could be anything, so it's safer to just bring her. Though it stinks, because it will put a serious damper on Christmas. But that's what happens when you have pets, I guess. And they should always come first. Keep us in your thoughts, hopefully it isn't anything too serious. Hopefully it isn't a blockage, and feeding and watering her hopefully won't make anything worse.

Thanks!

She still hasn't used the litterbox today, soooo.

She is eating and drinking, and I'll leave the litterbox in my bedroom over night.

So, I didn't bring her to the vet after all. The vet wasn't opened Monday, and I probably could've brought her today, but yesterday her poop turned to normal and she can urinate now. I will still keep an eye on her, and bring her to the Emergency vet if something still seem wrong.
