I think canned cat food smells good! I love the smell of it lol especially the turkey flavored food. I know it must have such a horrible taste but I sometimes feel like throwing it in the microwave and making tacos out of it because of how good it smells!!! LOL Am I the only weird one here who loves the smell of canned wet food for cats? Not that I would eat it, but it's just the smell of it that fascinates me.

I don't recall which one it was - but there is one flavor we give them that really smells good. I actually tasted it and it was not bad, I did not want to finish the can, but I didn't have to spit it out either.  There is a Salmon flavor (Blue Buffalo I think) that always smells awful, but our two Bengals go crazy for it.

I guess if you can eat raw mice, darn near anything out of a can is going to be a step up in taste!

Why is salmon always the one with the terrible smell? I bought these salmon flavor cat treats and the smell of it is just terrible. But the moment my cat sees me open the cabinet even if its to just grab the salt & pepper, my cat runs to me and begs for the treats since she knows that's where I keep them.

I did an experiment with the Salmon one time, I stepped into the basement to open the can so that the cats, who were sleeping upstairs, would not hear the can open. I then came back into kitchen with the open can of stinky Salmon. It took the smell 20 seconds to reach those Bengal noses upstairs. I heard both of them jump down off the bed, then they raced down to the kitchen. Conclusion: the smell of Salmon goes about 50 feet in 20 seconds

I like the smell of gas, so I guess you aren't so weird. At least canned food won't give you cancer if you inhale too much of it!

oh Canada~
^ When I was little, I liked the smell of gas! Same with cigarette smoke!

Now I have this internal conflict in my head of wanting to smell weird gross stuff and wanting to not die.
I've more or less worked that preference out of myself, to the point where I can't stand anywhere near smokers, but I still think cigar smoke isn't too bad.

Some cat food smells like farts, but some of them smell so heavenly. The Performatrin brand I feed smells like homemade chicken soup with the perfect seasonings. It's a battle each time I open a can.
I also LOVE tuna but it's so expensive to buy canned now, so whenever I open a tuna-based can for the cats, I'm just so tempted to eat it (but I'm afraid I'll puke it back up because.. it's cat food).

I did try to eat a bird pellet once before at the dare of my younger cousin, and the ingredients say it has some apple flavouring. I have no idea what different the manufacturers thought that would make. It doesn't really have a smell. Birds have a weak sense of taste and smell - the food itself tasted like chewing a solid stick of butter. Edible, but I wouldn't make it a first choice by any means...

I give Autumn Fancy Feast canned once a week.  I never ever buy her any type of pate tho, it really stinks.  I can't stand the smell, it actually turns my stomach.  I buy her only the canned with gravy and she loves it.

I hate the smell of the Wellness Chicken and Herring. It smells fruity and fishy at the same time and it grosses me out. None of the other cat foods bother me, and some of the Weruva recipes smell kind of good.

I'll take cigarettes over perfume any day.

Anyone else think that Fancy Feast Salmon Pate smells like urine? Or is it just us? Or old chop cat Cleo loved the stuff, but it always made us cringe. Anything to get the old girl to eat though.

Weruva'sbrand of food smells and looks good enough to eat
Actually you probably could since Weruva uses only Human-grade ingredients.

Thw worst canned food smell (to me) is Avoderm. I bought one years ago and it smelled horrible
My cat actually made a face upon sniffing the food and backed away. The food wasn't appealing looking either - shreds of pink chicken in a strange gloppy bright pink gravy.
