Hi, I know this might not be the place for this, but I'm really desperate!

I have a beautiful 1 year old Maine Coon girl named Bubble. She startet to get her knees dislocated last week.

A trip to the vet showed that her hips are not sitting correctly in their sockets, which puts a lot of strain on her entire body. It makes her carry most of her weight on the front legs, which will lead to more problems later in life if not corrected. The hip problems lead to weak muscles in the hindquarters and stretch the ligaments in the hind legs. Her knees get dislocated partially because of this, and partially because they don’t sit correctly either. If she keeps dislocation them, she might also tear a ligament in her knee. To correct this, she needs hip replacments and they need to stabilize her knees. It's quite complicatet to explain all about it.

Luckely she can make a full recovery with surgeries, but it's terribly expensive. Surgery will cost €1308 per knee, and € 3270 per hip. This is including overnight stays, X-rays, medicine etc.

She is going in for surgery on her right knee on monday, as this knee is painful for her right now, but we can barely afford it. We won't be able to pay for anything else right now. As we don't have a lot of money we would really appreciate if anyone could help us out just a little bit. We startet a fundraiser to get her all of the surgeries she needs, and if anyone could take the time to share this with friends, family or strangers, we would be forever greatful. She is so young and she gives us so much love and joy, and we would hate to have to end up putting her to sleep because we can't afford all her surgeries. As we are desperate, we thought we could try to raise the money we need.

Thank you so much for reading!

I recommend posting your vet's name and phone number on the go fund me page, so that people who want to verify your story or to give money directly to the vet are able to do so.  Unfortunately, A LOT of people lie on the internet about their animals needing help, so this is not personal but just a tip that many people would never give money just on 'faith'. Posting an itemized bill on the go fund me page is also a good idea.

Good luck.

I completely agree with both of you. Everyone should be very sceptical when people ask for money on the internet. As I live in Norway, verifying my story might be difficult. I will ask my vet if he is comfortable with me putting his name on the site though, and if the animal hospital is okey with getting calls about this. I do not know how well they speak english. This is the main reason I haven't already postet that information. I will however post copys of the X-rays and the vet bill when I get them.

I do not really expect getting any help with this, as i honestly would be sceptical myself. But I am desperate and have nothing to lose at this point. Thank you for letting me post this in your forum anyway. I have tried several places, but wasen't allowed to post about this.

If nothing else,  I will keep both this thread and gofundme site updatet for anyone who would be interested in following the story and see how things go.

A picture of Bubble today, not the best quality though

A tiny update.

Left Bubble at the vet this morning, and they vil operate later today. The vet are going to call me when he is finished, but Bubble has to stay at the animal hospital over night. I wil also get a copy of her X-rays when I pick her up tomorrow.

I just read your post.  I am glad she has had surgery.  She is a striking cat with her coloration and ear tips!!!

She's a pretty girl. I hope she's feeling better. We call them Elizabethan or E collars. I bought one for my cats that is inflatable and pretty soft so they are more comfortable if they should need it to sleep in.
