Hello everybody, Merry Christmas. I have two kittens one is a male 6 or 7 months old and the other is a female cute little cat of about 3 months old at best.

Yesterday I observe something I didn't know what it was, maybe you out there can help me figure this out. The older kitten was chasing and jumped on the younger kitten and pinned it to the porch floor and had his teeth in the side of, the younger ones neck. The older one shadow is his name, was still and waited for the younger cat to give in to submission, and I thought they were just playing.

It turns out it's the older one who has been there much longer was really jealous of the younger one. Come to find out that the actions I was seening from these two kittens was pure jealousy, and wanted the younger one to know that he is the male cat and the younger one has to be submissive or something like that.

I was shocked at the fact that these cats can be really jealous of another and they're not afraid to show it. So what is this all about everybody can you help shed some light on this? Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Might that not be jealousy but typical male mating behavior? The males bite the female in the neck. Are they fixed?

Not yet. I am going to work with our local animal protection shelter and the T-N-R program.

It really sounds like mating. Even if your little girl isn't old enough to get knocked up the male will still try! And kittens can get pregnant as young as 4 months!

You need to bring your little guys in ASAP to get fixed.

It also sounds as if he is attempting to mate to me, as well.  It can take them awhile to figure it out... But it only takes a couple of seconds and you will have babies on the way!  Separate them and have them fixed ASAP... FYI:  It can take a month for the hormones to leave their system, too.  During this time, the male may still be fertile and try to mate the female.

My male cat. ( 10 months) does the exact same thing to our new female who is 11 weeks old. Male was neutered at 6 months so I don't have to worry about babies but I am worried he am hurt her. We do not let them alone yet so we can break it up if he gets too rough. Any suggestions or thoughts if he will outgrow this? He is also very nice to get as well and grooms her and let's her eat out of his dish. We will have her spayed between 3 and 6 months when the vet tells us to gave it done

The neutering needs to be done NOW. She is a little beauty.
besides probably ttying to mate with her he certainly is telling her who is alpha. That will pass when he's surebshe knows.
i had this with my two males.
