My beautiful 6 month old British shorthair seems unable to use the litterbox without sitting in his pee or treading in it. It's driving me crazy having to wipe his bum each time. He's had a big tray, small tray, covered and uncovered. I've even reduced the amount of litter yet it's still happening, any suggestions as how to get him to stop?

Forgive me, but I don't understand. After peeing in the box he does not bother to "wipe" himself dry, is that what you mean?

Hi, yes essentially he'll pee then come out the box with a really wet area like he hasn't dried himself, almost like he's squatting down too low hence why I tried using less litter. Thanks Sophie

What kind of litter do you use?
This happened when I tried Tidy Cat light. the static was unreal bc it's made of styrofoam or something. It was static-y. When I switched back to regular clumping litter he no longer had a drenched bottom.

Hi, it's called the "worlds best cat litter" it is very fine and is a clumping/flushable litter. I've bought some pellet type litter this evening - fingers crossed!

Please let us know how that works for you.  My 18 year old is having the same problems.

Hi I know this is an old post but I was wondering if you found a solution. Our 5 month old kitty has been doing the same thing occasionally the last couple weeks.
I had to comment because we use worlds best, to. He was doing fine with it before. I'm wondering if he just hasn't gotten used to his new... Luggage down there. He's getting neutered in a couple days.

My cat never used to sit all the way down when he urinated, I know because I used to have to monitor him closely. I'm surprised so many threads on this site have ppl claiming it's a cat not normally cleaning themselves as this is not a normal issue. Cats don't normally sit in their pee while going. My cat just started doing this and I believe it's due to his arthritis but I'm going to double check with his vet.
