They have the same colors and pattern.  Are they litter-mates?   Also, where do you live?  Do you know anything of their background?

They aren't litter mates, they prefer to go outside. We live in a rural area in western canada. Do you know what breed they are? I've been trying to find out for ages

And I don't know much about their background. They had some papers but they "got lost" so we have no idea. Susie has a curled tail that the vet says may have been caused by rare genetics but other than that me and my husband have no clue

Sorry, I was a little unclear.   I didnt meant how they are doing their business with body wastes and the litter, I meant if they were brother and sister.   I know in american english they seldom use the word siblings  as meaning litter mates from the same litter.

My guess is they are domestic cats.  Like the very most of cats are. The pattern is, black and white.  Some call it for black and white bi-color.  The girl may probably by called for tuxedo - it looks as a tuxedo on her.   The boy isnt so clear cut tuxedo clad.   :)   But I guess if you insist you can anyways call him for a tuxedo.

As they dont belong to any especial breed, I think your vet is right: its some genetical freak of the nature.  Or possibly a small birth defect, alike may happen with humans.

Why I asked where you live, is because in the grecian islands, such cats are common with these colors and overall look, a natural breed sort off, and are commonly called  for the aegeian cat  (frome the sea outside of Greece).    Also, I believe in Japan there is a local natural breed where its common the cats has the tail curled up.

I hope you enjoy life with your very nice, two furry friends,     :)

Good luck!

Looks like they're domestic short hair, black and white or "Tuxedo" cats! They're super cute :)

Definitely a Tuxedo cats, this breed comes in two colors black and white.

When I saw the pictures I thought are just one cat, they look so much alike.
