My sweet Darcy took a turn for the worst last night, and this morning continued to go downhill.  It was obvious it was time to let her go, but it's one of the hardest things I've ever done.  I've been crying all last night and all day today.  She will be cremated and her ashes and paw print will be returned to us.  I only knew her for about two months, but I loved her so much, she was so easy to love.  She never got to grow up, and only had about two weeks with us to be a kitten.  It's just a few days shy of her 9th birthday.  I hope that Cindy met her when she passed and will be will her until we are all together again.

@Misty8723, I had been following your thread about Darcy on the sidelines, and I must say I'm just heartbroken that you've had to say goodbye.
I'm so sorry for your loss. You've been through so much these past couple of years and I can't even imagine how shattered you must feel.

Rest in peace, sweet Darcy.

Misty,
I can hardly believe this, it's horribly " wrong"! My broken heart is entwined with yours over the loss of your sweet Darcy, and my baby Rascal. If Rascal weighed 3 pounds I'd be very surprised, just his beautiful fur and not much cat left at all. This disease is awful, as it leaves them with no strength to try and fight.
This has been a horrible year for so many of us, and hearing of your loss has just added to my sorrow. I can only imagine how you must be feeling now. All I can offer is my heartfelt grief, understanding and a long-distance hug, with prayers for you and Darcy. If you need to talk we are all here for you when you need us.
Like many others, I too believe we will be reunited with our furry Angels at the Rainbow Bridge. That much love can't just disappear. I've often thought that their beautiful souls must be older than ours, as they give themselves so freely. Love to you and all your family ( fur and otherwise).

Thank you so much GoHolistic.  It's been a rough time of it so far, and we thought we had the perfect cat with Darcy.  She was sweet, loving, liked to  hang out with us, got along great with Swanie. FIP is a horrible, horrible disease.  I pray they find a cure for it someday soon so  no other kitten has to suffer like that.

ConiKat, I saw your thread, and your Rascal was so beautiful, it just broke my heart all over again.  Darcy was like that too, beautiful fur and bones.  Darcy did have some good days where she seemed to rebound a bit. She was never the playful kitten again, but she did have almost a month of good days until a couple days ago when she totally stopped eating. We syringe fed, but yesterday evening it was clear that it was her time.  She could hardly walk, she couldn't find a comfortable position to lay in, etc.  You know what I'm talking about.  Breaks your heart to see it.  I think today was the hardest thing I've ever done, and I'm so thankful that my vet and all the staff there are so loving and compassionate.  They truly do care.  My vet sadly lost one of her dogs yesterday, and she was very emotional when she saw Darcy.

I am hoping that Darcy will send us a sign.  Cindy did when she passed in September, and it was a great comfort.  I know we will be reunited, but for now there is a Darcy sized hole in my heart.

Hi Misty8723, I am truly sorry over the loss of your sweet precious Darcy.I know my words cannot really ease your pain (believe me I wish they could).I do feel your pain though and completely understand it. We love our precious babies so much that the pain is unbearable when they leave us. Our babies take a huge piece of our hearts with them.Just remember you loved your Darcy and did all you could for her. She loved you in return and would not want you to be sad. Darcy will remain in your heart forever. She was a beauty!! She looks alot like my Mickey. Please take care. Again I am so sorry.

Misty, it is truly heartbreaking. I had lost my two big boys just a few weeks before this happened( coyotes). I have so many holes in my heart that I think I'm more with them than here.
Then I got a surprise yesterday. My oldest girl Autumn starting yowling like crazy, then followed with Paxi-talk. Since then the entire house, especially the cats has been overturned. Autumn is playing and she only played with Paxi. Button and Sarah are chasing invisible kitties, and they all seem happy, where they'd been grieving. I'm pretty sure that both Rascal and Paxi are here, and Sammy as well.
I wanted a sign and I guess I got one, though it was quite shocking when it happened. Felt them walking on me last night too.
The overwhelming thing is the joyful behavior, and even I have been affected by it. I really hope your little one comes back for a visit very soon. You'll know....she'll do something to let you know it's really her. Perhaps people think I'm crazy, but I know better. Sending love and hugs, you know she loved you as much as you loved her.

I screwed up again with the photos. I didn't realized tha Rascal and button were going to end up in the wrong place. I'm so sorry, I just thought Rascal looked a lot like the adult cat you showed ( which I thought was Darcy).
We can get one of the administrators to remove them.

Misty, please accept my condolences, I know words will never convey what I really want to express to you, at a time like this it's almost impossible to give comfort when you are suffering so much. The acute pain at first is almost unbearable, with time the edges will soften and one day you will remember your sweet Darcy with smiles and fondness instead of  tears and pain. I truly hope she will return to you and give you a sign that she is still by your side, they so often do when we are so unwilling to let them go. I'm so very sorry for the tremendous loss you have suffered, remember that she will never be far, she is  bonded with your soul and a part of her is forever in your heart. RIP beautiful little Darcey, you were greatly loved!

Loving Mickey, your words mean a lot to me. My heart is heavy, but I'm glad we were able to give her some comfort and she didn't have to spend her last days in the shelter.  She was beautiful, both inside and out.

ConiKat, I think that's wonderful your kitties came back and sent you a sign! I definitely don't think you're crazy.  After Cindy passed in September, the second night, I heard the exact sound she used to make when eating her kibble off the mat.  She couldn't get it out of the bowl very good, so I put a vinyl mat down in the bedroom and would put some of the kibble on the  mat for her.  We would be in bed, and when I heard that sound I would know she was I the room.  I was say, Cindy's here! Hi Cindy!  And there was no mistaking that it was the exact same sound.  The next night, DH heard the same thing. I also observed Swanie's behavior and I could swear he was seeing something I didn't see. I assumed that to be Cindy.  He  just did it again, like he was looking at something, and then he started to purr.  So I wonder if Darcy is here now.  I hope so. I hope she sends us a sign so we know she is alright.

Thank you so much, Di and Bob.  Yes it is close to unbearable, and I am not totally over Cindy's passing in September.  I know it will get easier, we just have to take it one day at a time. We were at a ceremony honoring the animals shortly after Cindy passed in September, and one of the things the speaker said was something like Losing an animal is the cost of admission for loving an animal.  Yesterday I said the cost was too high - but for all the love they give - it's not.

Thank you jcat.  It has been a nightmare from the start, but little Darcy is at peace now and I just hope she knows how very much we loved her.

I think she did send you a sign. It's almost always something familiar, so the kibble- eating would be a good choice for her since she knows that you know it. I hope she'll stay a while for you. She wants you to be happy and I think that's why they do it, though the other part is sheer love!
Bless you, I'm so glad all of ours have returned.

I'm so, so sorry to hear that Darcy lost her fight.  It sounds like she put up a good one, and though it might not seem like much, I know the love and care you gave her meant the world to her.  I know from your posts that Darcy was an important part of your family, and saying goodbye is never easy.  Know that you did the right thing, listened to her when she said it was time, and she is at peace now.  She'll forever be in your heart, I'm sure, and she can never be replaced but one day the joy she gave you will come to mind easier than the sadness of losing her.

If you need to talk, to reminisce, send virtual tears, or anything, please feel free to PM me.  You gave me some great advice and words of encouragement when my baby was suffering, and I hope I can offer the same.

You and Darcy are in my thoughts and prayers.  Much love to you both.
