Hi! I don't have any pets, but there are lots of stray cats in the area that like to walk through my yard. My duplex-mate and i have been having problems with fire ants in the house, so she had an exterminator come out and spray the yard. I just realized that this might be dangerous to the cats, and now I'm worried. The yard was just sprayed an hour ago. Please let me know if you have any ideas about how I can help/protect the cats--something I could put down to neutralize the poison/a way to temporarily keep them out of the area, etc? Thanks!

The cats should avoid the sprayed areas unless there is something in the spray that deliberately attracts them. I can't imagine anything that they would use on fire ants that would attract cats (or other mammals). I may be wrong. You might want to keep an eye out and chase any cat away that might be sniffing around, at least until the spray dries.

It is nice of you to be concerned. Many people wouldn't care.

Maybe you can put some food and water for them in place away from your yard to attracted them there and the same time to keep them out of the yard.
