Hi Everyone, I have come up with a new idea, I am going to use the shed on the side of my second garage on the other side of the yard next to the field. I had some help with this. Ms Aimee helped me make that decision. I appreciated that. I am going to finish my Cat boxes and put them inside the shed. I am going to post a picture of my Shed. You can see my second garage above. The small shed hooked to it will be the new Cat House. I will put my totes and Cat Boxes inside of the shed. it is nice and dry and it will give them good protection against the wind, rain, and snow. I have a few things to clean out of it, but then it will be fine to use.

I want to know if I will need a litter box inside the shed

I am going to put a 7 inch hole in the side of the shed, what do you think?????

Then when bad weather comes the cats will have a place to go. I am going to make the entrance no more than 7 inches in diameter. I hope no Racoons or crazy stuff try's to stay there.

I am going to keep there feeding station on the long pallet i have which is away from the shelter.

How High should I make the hole in side of the shed Please Give me some ideas if you can I would much welcome them.

I am sure I will have some happy cats that don't have to stay out in the nasty weather!!!!!.

Thanks Rich

I will put my small crates inside the shed and they will be warm as toast. We also have some Snowy weather here is northern Illinois and blustery Temperatures way below zero.

I Would Love A Lot Of Input On My New Idea. I Am A Newbie And I Need Help, So I Do The Right Thing.

What a great idea.  Just be sure not to put food inside the shed.  It's the food that will attract the raccoons and other critters.  Make a separate area outside where the cats can eat and be sure to pick up the food each night.  The cats will be forever grateful for a warm dry shelter out of the elements.  I have a tent like structure on my deck that I use for my ferals.  Inside I have a bench with a large heated house on top.  It is heated with a Hound Heater.  My cats love it.  I am sure to never put food in the shelter.  I have 3 feeding stations about 15 feet from the shelter.  This is where the cats eat.  The racoons will come on the deck but they usually stay out of the shelter.  The scent of food is not there.

Thank you for caring for the kitties.

Excellent!  if you put the opening between five and six inches off the ground, it should be easy enough for the cats to access.  Like ShadowsRescue said, just keep the food away from the "bedroom."

A litter box certainly won't hurt.  I use the big totes and three-four inches of litter.  You can put some dried leaves on top.  This is what they are used to using, so they will learn pretty quickly how to use the "indoor plumbing".

I am really impressed with your efforts.  The faster you get them used to coming for meals, the faster you will be able to get them all fixed.  That is the key to this project.  If they can't reproduce, your little colony will stabilize.
