Long story short, I took my cat (16yo) to the vet around a month ago because she didn't want to eat for two days. The blood works were done and it turned out she had creatinine 2.0mg/dL and BUN 107.4mg/dL. Renal food once a day and Ipakitine phosphate reductor twice a day were prescribed and the next blood works were due in one week.

After the week, here results were already a lot better - creatinine still 2.0, BUN down to 96. She was eating normally, the next test was due in three weeks (today). The whole time she was eating normally (not renal food this time, as I heard mixed opinions about it), practically any food you gave her and had no problems eating Ipakitine twice a day.

Today's results, however, were worse. While creatinine stayed the same, BUN suddenly went up to 126. Why can that be? She's behaving normally, eating everything, playing (and just lemme remind that she didn't want to eat with BUN of 107 a month ago!). Are such fluctuations normal? She's to have blood pressure tested tomorrow but still, it looks weird that after only a week on Ipakitine, she was down by 10 units and now it went 30 units up over three up even though she's on her medication. Any opinions?

are you giving your girl sub-q (subcutaneous) fluids?

my snick has CKD, stage 2. snick will only nibble on the renal canned food occasionally. snick gets fluids every other day currently.

Nope, thankfully no reason to. She eats without problems. The problem may be hypertension cause after measuring it at the vet's today, it turned out to be over 200. The tests will be repeated tomorrow to ensure accuracy and if they happen to be bad again, we'll kick in with hypertension medication :)
