My 2.5 yr old mommy just gave birth its her second litter. She had 3 stillborn and only 1 survived. She's a great mother but for some reason she wont leave me alone. The poor day old kitten is screaming for its mommy but she rather be right by my side. I even put the box right by my bed she'll quiet the kitten for a second then right back on thw bed with me. Is this normal? She didn't do thise last but her all kittens made it last time.

Moms wanting for ta loved owner to be near is quite common. But moms who prefer to be with owner, although the owner IS near, is not so common no.  I wonder if there may be some problem with her, needing a vet visit??   I mean, if she is feeling unwell she may seek protection this way...

Anywyas, proceed with what you do, be very near, so she has near to the kitten, and does take care of it.

And please, spay her this time, when the time is appropriate for it, usually about 8 weeks after delivery, when the kitten is more or less weaned.

Keep reporting, and asking.

Good luck!

ps.  Keep an close eye on the kitten, so you are sure she get enough with food and attention.  The easiest way is to weigh her every day, in grammes.  If she gains at least 6g a day, preferably 10+ g a day, good.   If not, you must probably step in and give her extra food.  kmr or goat milk, with a syringe or such.

I very unsure / critical cases, weigh even twice a day.

Good luck!

So all night was spent putting her back in the box. I think maybe she was cold. She usually sleeps under the blankets wit me. I tried covering the box leaving just ahole for entrance that didnt work.

You can perhaps rig up a heating pad or warm water bottle on low warmt? Not too much, too much warmth is dangerous for small kittens   (not so dangerous for somewhat older kittens, as they can move away).

If you find you must give the kitten extra nutrition or water, make sure you know HOW to do it.  There are wrong ways to do it.

Good luck!

I came home from work to the kitten in the bed with my bf he said she brought to the bed. We are now taking turns every 2 hours or so to sit in the bed and make sure he's fed. She sleeps between whoever is sleepig in the bed and the kitten. (We have opposite schedules)

Its lucky you have opposite schedules because you're going to be very tired, I think!

Do you have a gram scale? It would be ideal to weigh the kitten each day to make sure it is gaining weight properly.

Good you ARE going to the vet, if mom is bleeding.  Some red colored watery discharge is common, but blood for real we dont want to see.   IF so, its a vet errand yes.  Good you were observant.

Thus its double important to take regular weighting of the kitten.  At the very very least, you yourself try and judge the kitten in your hands every day.   So you DO have a clear clue about the changes, gaining, losing, not losing but not gaining either...

Taking the kitten to the vet does helps very much: the vet cant know what the weight was yesterday and the day before...   He cant know the development, at best he will know the status as in this moment.   And not all vets are very good with kittens...   Most vets are OK with clear cut symptoms, but where there are no clear cut symptoms, it will differ.

A kitchen scale measuring in grammes (best electronical)  isnt costly you dont need anyting fancy.  You can get in in Walmart or similiar.   Or lend from some neighbour.

Good luck!
