Hi cat forum!

I have a kitten (almost four months old) and his name is Houdini. We found a hard lump on this throat a couple days ago, and we're not quite sure what it is. When I feel it, it seems rather small and reminds me of an Adams apple. The lump came up all of a sudden. Houdini is acting as playful and sweet as always; He doesn't seem to be sick. There aren't any more spots like that on his body or on his siblings. But I just figured that I would ask if you've ever been in this situation?

I'd love to take him to the vet and get him checked out but recently my mom has been in a ""mood"" hah. Does this sound more like a cancerous lump, a cyst, or just an abscess? Searching "my cat has a lump on his throat" is giving me all of these things
Just a little worried.

Unfortunately, there is no way for anyone on the internet to diagnose what that lump could be.  the only thing I can say about it is IF it is an abscess, I would think it would hurt him when you press on it and would think he would at least try to keep you from doing that

Do you have a family Vet?  If so, maybe you could at least call them and ask what  they think, and if THEY say to bring him in, then maybe that will convince your mother that he needs to be seen.

Thank you for the reply @mrsgreenjeens . My parents took him to the vet today and it's actually just an upper respiratory infection (: We have his medicine.

Here's a pic of him if you'd like to see (he is the black&white one!)

He's adorable.  Glad he has been seen by a Vet and is now on medication for that URI.
