I was in the store getiing my after school coffee last night, when this young man in front of me had his credit card declined, and had no money. It was only 3 dollars, and I thought I would be nice and help him out. He declined my offer very rudely, like I had done something to offend him. I thought I was being nice and helping out a young guy. We have all been young and broke, and it's not like I was expecting anything in return. I thought it was so rude. It is still bugging me, even though I know it shouldn't.

He probably was embarrassed when his credit card was refused and too proud to accept your generosity. He felt a bit offended, that's all. You were doing a good thing and that's all that matters.

You know, he may have been one of those who is down on his luck and feels he can't take anything from anyone. My husband would have been rude just like that (drives me nuts!) and it's not because what you did wasn't nice and that he's not nice, it's just that he can't take from other people.

I doubt the credit card was stolen if it was only $3. Usually they buy big purchases because they'd be laughed out of the jail if they got caught for $3. I had an ex who once stole credit cards and he fill up both tanks on his van with them, coming to a total usually over $100. Needless to say, this was the bad ex who is now incarcerated.

The kid was arrested late last night with a pocket full of stolen credit cards. His pic was in the paper this morning.

That was a cool update. Now you know why the kid is a jerk. He was a snot-nosed criminal all along.
