Sounds like you do have another kitty. Thus I'd say he's just a one- person cat! I have a female like that( not quite that bad) but she is very jealous if someone else wants to snuggle with me

In retrospect, this has been coming for a
while. The owner started getting some of her mail sent here about a month ago. She'd asked us to be on the lookout for anything that seemed important for her so we didn't throw it away. She's getting married and moving back home to settle down.

I'm not angry at her. It's her house. Just disappointed in the situation.

We found a nice apartment that accepts pets. We started the paperwork yesterday, and once they do the credit/bank stuff Monday, we should be ready to sign the lease. It really isn't worth it to rent houses. We're going back to apartment living to save up to buy a house.

We're curious to see how Regent handles the move with his anxiety. I'll keep you all updated!

Regent is indoor only. He runs AWAY from the door when anyone opens it. He is the only cat we have, and his interaction with every other animal he's met around us suggests he would prefer for it to stay that way.

My MIL lives with us, and she's home with him almost all the time. That's why it was so rare that everyone was gone for several hours Saturday.

But you know your baby better than anyone. I do home he calms down for you though. Poor little guy....

I hope that the new place works out and Regent adjusts quickly.  If your MIL continues to stay with you, that will help establish continuity for him.

I would say that regent definitely would not accept another cat.

Hi,
Sotty that he won't accept another, but some are just like that, and we never know why. Maybe his litter mates were mean to him. Hope he gets used to everything soon though.

LOL Sotty

I'm not sure about Regent's littermates or whether he lived with other pets before, but I do know he was attacked when they left him in the woods. He had a giant bite mark on his back with a long stretch of skin torn off. The vets think it was probably a dog bite. It took that wound a month to stop bleeding, and he has a big permanent scar on his shoulders.

When he lived at the shelter, he retreated to the back of his cage when he heard any loud meowing or barking. His anxiety was so bad he lived with the sick cats in the quarantine area.

Our neighbors across the street have a semi-feral outdoor cat, and that thing is obsessed with trying to meet Regent. They've had three separate incidents of trying to fight through our storm door.

Hi again,
Poor Regent! That explains quite a lot. He surely hasn't had things easy has he. I adopted Pez yesterday and brought him home. He was in a place where they took blood every few weeks, so the poor baby is rather jittery with people, though he purrs and rubs his head on me. We've allowed him the run of the house and he's getting along with our cats very well, no fighting and hissing. But boy can he hide! We have a radio collar for him, if and when we find him again. It's likely going to be quite a while before we win his trust, poor baby. I think he expects needles when someone picks him up, so this may take a while. I'm hoping my cats will tell him it's okay, and that this is a great place to be! Hope so anyway, as he's a sweet big boy and deserves better than he's had so far. They said he'd been in that place since 2011!!!! He wasn't treated badly from the description. But how awful, and such a beautiful kitty.

Oh he is lovely! Is he partial Maine Coon? Why did they draw blood from him?

He is a very handsome man.  Is he really little?  He looks quite large.

I have a long hair also, he looks big, but only weighs 11.3  lbs and he is the smallest of all my cats.  Mr. Fluff and Stuff, all fluff and no stuff.

Regent is a very big guy. He is 14 pounds and solid muscle. But he is a gentle giant! As harmless and babylike as he can be.

To: VB Cat Parent- your boy looks a lot like mine! And they are both beautiful IMO![emoji]128522[/emoji] I'm fairly certain there's some Maine Coon in there somewhere, though his fur is not quite as long as I had hoped. But he does have the ruff though it's been shaved, fur between his toes, and a fairly fluffy tail. He's been here a week yesterday, and his fur looks better every day! He also has the sweet and gentle Maine Coon temperament, so I think there must be more there than is visible, and yes he is a big boy.

Kitty Momma 1122-- I am prejudiced of course, but I think he's a beautiful boy too. I think his personality and his sweetness is the best part though. He's so very lovable, though still a bit uncertain. But he's made amazing progress in just one week. He still is fluctuating between jumpiness and his love bug routine, so when he does relax completely, he'll be wonderful! I can hardly wait for that[emoji]128522[/emoji].
