Hello!
I am brand new in here and nice to be sharing ideas and experiences. I have two shelter kittens now 7 months old, a brother and sister. I am just crazy about them.
I adopted them on August 27th, 2014, was told they were three months old. Since I was "pressed" to take the male to the Vet two weeks later, it was told to me that these kittens were only 8 weeks old.
The reason I was forced is one has Feline herpes and had an awful upper respiratory virus.
It was suggested that I give him L-lysine to boost his immune system...after the antibiotic finished...
I bought a very good brand from a Pet Store and although it was just opened they were not liked by my kitten...
Much too hard for his little teeth, I bought a second bag only to find this was the way they are.
I started him off on 250 mg twice a day and they helped so I stopped. Bad move, he got another URI and has to go on
an antibiotic again!!
After three URI I decided it was going to be part of his day, each day...Started on that same dose 250 2 times a day...
The improvement was very good....He still continued to sneeze but remained free of mucus blocking his little nostrils and his watery eyes..
I have switched my brand of this Lysine and he just loves them. I have put him on a maintenance dose of 250 once a day.
Thank God he has been free of antibiotics but will probably sneeze on...
I am praying he stays well, he is so lovable and his sister is so sweet too...
Regards,
