Has anyone tried Wild Calling's dry foods? I've seen discussion about their canned but not the dry. I'm looking for a limited ingredient diet for Charlie, and I'm hoping I can use some dry along with the wet food, to keep costs down. Wild Calling looks like a decent option but I'm curious what others think of it.

@momto3cats  .. I have not fed this food but I wanted to respond to your post .. The food looks pretty good , good ingredients but if I calculated right it has about 31% carbs .. I don't know if this would be an issue for you but other than that I think the food looks good ..

I won't use them. They use Evanger's to can their food. Evanger's pet food has been cited by the FDA for using different ingredients than the ones listed on the label.

For instance, replacing rabbit meat with chicken, or buffalo with beef etc.

I do not trust Evanger's as the owner's of the company has also been arrested for fraud and stealing utilities. There have been reports of decaying meat, and flies on the property, along with other disgusting things.

I won't feed Diamond made cats foods either. There have been too many recalls.

There are only 2 really limited ingredient diets out there: Nature's variety and Evo 95% meat. Natural Balance advertises a LID, but if you look at their foods they add a bunch of carbs (potatoes, rice, sweet potato)  and Yucca, or Inulin etc.

The most limited food on the market is probably Wysong Epigen canned cat/dog foods. They are not nutritionally balanced and are missing Taurine and other ingredients. They cannot be fed for long term.  They contain meat/bone and guar gum. So just 2 ingredients and no added vitamins or minerals. They have not yet come out with a complete nutritional analysis of their canned foods as they just changed the recipe. They did provide me the previous nutritional analysis though.

Technically you could try Epigen for a short period of time and add your own taurine.  Epigen canned cat foods are meant to be a supplement. Epigen dry foods have a bunch of ingredients so probably won't help you.

This is just looking at canned foods. I'm sure someone else will have some ideas on raw or fresh meat diets.

Yes, I've heard about the problems with foods canned by Evanger's (and the one time I tried it, my cat wouldn't touch the food anyway). I was asking about the dry version of Wild Calling - it is about 31% carbs as 2Cats4Me pointed out, but my plan is to use about half dry and half low-carb canned. My only other option seems to be Nature's Variety Limited Ingredient diets, and their dry is also pretty high in carbs.

Evo might work, and is low carb even in dry form, but it's pretty high in calcium and phosphorus which worries me.

Yes , Evo Turkey & Chicken kibble  is low in carbs . About 12 % I think ..   I think the Wild Calling looks like a decent food ..

My cats eat 50/50 as well . For kibble they are eating Young Again Zero Carb , boy do they love it .. Right now for canned they are eating Purina Beyond Grain Free ..

So no one here has actually tried the Wild Calling kibble? Maybe I'll be the first.
