By the way, I'd like to share something ( hope no one minds), that I received yesterday with my little Rascal's ashes. I'd been feeling sad that I didn't think to ask for his paw print, as others have done. So you can imagine my surprise when THIS showed up too! All I could do was hold it to me and cry my heart out. But today, it's making me smile more and more as I look at it and cherish it. So here it is, and I think it's the sweetest, most wonderful thing I've ever gotten;

Sharon Budd,
Isn't it wonderful? And such a surprise too. I think my Vet made it, or had it done for me, but she'll probably never admit to it. She cried with me and held both of us at the time. And afterwards carried him like a baby, stroking his fur the whole time. Bless her forever for this, I value it more than anything else I have except my cats, and I think it's just absolutely beautiful. Someone put a lot of love into this, and it shows. It certainly does!   I think it is really beautiful, both to look at and as a gesture.

aww I remember the day Min's ashes were delivered...it was AMAZING the feeling I had that ..."she was now home".
I love your display for your sweetie.
The day we put Min down I wore a pink tank top..so I used it as the background for her display of pics. I was planning on eventually ordering a fancy urn for her...but when the ashes were delivered in this lil black box, I thought..aww it's perfect since she was black as well.

Aww, I so know what you mean-- I had the same feelings about it. His little box of ashes is a heavy white plastic, but nicely done. And I had planned to put his box in with my Paxi's head ( all that was left after the Coyotes but at least we had something left. It's the first time we've ever found anything of any of them! I just felt like they belonged together, and my hubby is building a beautiful tiny box for them. But it's going to be very hard to part with them. Honestly it was very strange, as Rascal's remains were better taken care of than my Mother's were. She arrived in a paper bag type package!
Now at least, I will have the lovely little plaque and a bit of his fur to add to my beaded locket. Just a little something I make for friends and relatives who've lost their babies too. I also have a kind of little " shrine" I guess to all my furry beloveds--watched over by a statue of Bastet. Appropriate I thought.

That is so nice! And I think it was very nice of your vet to do that.

It really was wonderful of her to do this for me. Many people don't know her that well, but she's a warm and loving person, and she feels these losses as much as we do.i think it nearly broke her heart ( as much as mine) to see him in that condition in such a short time. There are so many vets who don't seem to care that much for their little patients or owners. I feel so fortunate to have one who so obviously does care.

GlenCatMan,
That's truly wonderful that you've been seeing and hearing them again. I think they stick around for as long as they think we need them to. I always feels the warmth and love they brought me in life when they do come for a visit. If you keep an eye on your kitties, they will often tell you when your other babies have returned. They always know. They seem to spend more time with and around you when the loss is recent, because it's when you need them the most, and they want you to know that they are still nearby to comfort you.
I lost three of my babies within two months last fall and was completely devastated! It was horrible, and I just couldn't stop crying for a very long time. It felt as if my life had ended along with theirs. Then I started getting visits from each of them, and even some from years back. It was a huge help for me, and now I've adopted another cat in desperate need of a home. He is helping me too, just by needing me.
And now, watching him finally realizing that he truly IS home for good is amazing. Today he was bouncing around and playing with me. I just know that my cats led me to him since he's around six, and likely I wouldn't have looked for another yet, especially one a bit older. But he fits into my cat family as if he'd always been here, and they get along very well. I hope you get many more visits to help you get through this, and you know we are all here as well to talk if you need it. Bless you...
A few nights ago when I got home from work, I was doing something in my kitchen when I distinctly heard a cat meow. I live in a basement suite where there are upstairs neighbors, but they don't have a cat. It could have been something else, but........who knows?

Conikat, that is beautiful, and I've just dissolved into tears seeing it.  Some people just do the nicest things, and really touch our hearts.

Last night / early morning I had a dream about Darcy.  She was running around, and went into this building. I followed her in because I was worried about her, and she was sitting in a box in the back with a little yellow cat.  I hope that really was Darcy coming to tell me she's okay.  I do not know who the little yellow cat might have been.  Both of them were happy.

Misty,
God bless you honey! I had the same reaction for a while, and then it made me smile. There was just so much love and sweetness enclosed in that little plaque--I couldn't help myself. I also thought it was beautiful, and it is and will be cherished forever. My Rascal was a fluffy gray baby boy, incredibly sweet and loving, and they chose a little gray kitten ( fluffy) to put on there. So I can't look at it without seeing him, plus it makes it feel like he's even closer to me. I'm glad you like it too, and I just felt like it was something I could and should share with everyone. Thank You!
This is my Rascal

Little Yellow Cat---
Possibly it was a brother or sister, or a friend. Another possibility is that Darcy was trying to tell you to be looking for this little cat. That's kind of how it went when I found and adopted LOKI a few weeks ago. It's very strange because all my kitties act like they've always known him, everyone gets along and plays, and he seems quite happy. He's very sweet and loving, and in the last few days has starting chatting and chirping like a normal Maine Coon. So, although I miss my lost boys terribly, Loki is making me smile again...and it feels like my boys sent him to me for love and comfort.

Man, I kind of hope we shouldn't be watching for a little yellow cat, because we are already committed to Cricket who is Tortie and I don't think we can take on two new cats. Especially with DH having potentially serious health issues.

ohhh I hear ya about the emotions of thinking of rescuing another. We lost Minnie 4 months ago and Mikki is doing better with her grieving...and we wonder if she'd do better yet with another kitty or... would it totally push her over the edge!
Lo and behold...this Kitty rescue comes up on my facebook page... wouldn't you know 2 lil tuxedo kittens named.... Mickey and Mini.

My 9 yr old granddaughter was asking me for my email, etc and at the end of our facetime, she said there was a form online to fill out if you wanted to adopt Mickey and Mini LOL... I had to explain to her..ummmm.. no no no...don't put my name in there!!! lol

Tortie could look yellow in your dreams.
I would go with your heart and the Cricket adoption you have planned and feel comfortable it is meant to be.  That Darcy was peacefully curled up and in company was a a potitive dream, and perhaps the yellow cat she was with there is a cat from her past?

Cricket is a cute name I think.

@ConiKat   that is a beautiful photograph of Rascal, and I see what you mean with the resemblance to Loki.

It wasn't a tortie in my dream, but we are not abandoning Cricket in any case.  What is kind of funny is that there is a yellow cat at the shelter named Pauley that DH has been saying if we could take home two cats, he would take Pauley.

I hadn't realized it, but DH told me that my Darcy dream was exactly one month after her passing.  That kind of gave me chills.

Awww, another Mickey and Mini.

I know, it's hard to tell if they would be better with another cat or if that would make it worse.  In the case of Swanie, I know it will make it better for him as long as we find the right one.  If it's not the right one, it just makes him worse.  Darcy was perfect, we were so happy, they just blended right together immediately.

Aww, it's almost always a wonderful thought, but not always a great idea. I wasn't trying to push you in that direction. I think for me and for LOKI it was right, but I've been fortunate I think, that he has blended so well with us and our cat family. I guess for us it does mean that he's the right kitty at the right time.
He's doing wonderfully well, and has discovered the joys of yummy, canned cat food, lol! Doing wonders for his fur and his weight, and he gets more handsome every day--sweeter too. I so love that he's talking to us now, chirping and purring, and rolling onto his back for tummy rubs etc. he's really craving love and cuddles too. Such a lovely boy, as sweet as he looks! I'm glad Mikki is doing better, and hope you are too.
Love and best wishes for you, Mikki and your family in whatever you do. And please give her a hug from me too.
