Oh, gosh, yes I sing to Mr R. "I love you, I honestly love yuuuu-uuuuu!!" And any other sappy 70s love song. He eats it up!!

Yes, most definitely talk to my cat all the time. Funny thing happened at work where I said to a colleague "Oh, look at you with your sleepy eyes!", and then I laughed when I realised that I sometimes say that to Chomsky after he wakes up. I told her that maybe the following day I would say "Oh, look at you with your tail held high!" which is another of my favourites.

Peaches, I love your little song!
Of course I talk to my cats, my sister's cats, stray cats and even this fellow in the picture.....though It made one of my girls jealous and she took off chasing the wild one! It was scary at the time, but insanely funny later on.

All the time - ours, the shelter cats, and any cat I happen to meet on the street. I talk to dogs, too, but it's cats that you can have long conversations with. Our last cat rarely shut up. We've found that the pets we've had respond much better to English than to German (DH is a native German speaker), probably because it's less guttural. The other shelter volunteers think it's hysterical that so many of the cats answer me. We don't think it's so much my voice, but the fact that I speak English to them.

I do that too.  It's actually a good thing that no one else is in the house when I call!  So silly.

I also do the talking to the animals...and waiting for a reply.  Usually, it is when I misplace some paper, or item, and ask them if they have seen it ?  If they actually would ever go over to it, and point to it,...I think I would faint.

My black cat loves tinfoil balls, he has learned to pick on up and bring it to me when I ask him where is the ball? I guess it is because he likes so much to catch them from the air when I toss them to him, but it is really funny, like a dog fetching a ball :D

You would definitely have to post a video of that!

Hey @JTbo, Your black cat sounds smarter than the animals over here.  I cannot even get the lab/retriever dog to give up his ball, and my cats would just make me go fetch.  (On second thought, maybe my animals have me trained.  oh, no...

Hi @Chom-chom....I am thinking that we have to see a photo of @JTbo's cat fetching that tin foil ball....and not me fainting....unless you are thinking that I can actually ever get them to "point".  cheers.

I talk to mine. It's weird. I don't do baby talk with babies or children, but with animals I do. Lol I also sing to her. Or sometimes I like to sing random words and start head banging in front of her and her eyes widen every time I do that. It's hilarious. I start bursting out with laughter and the more she stares at me the more I laugh lol

If I can't find a bit of paper I know exactly where it will be - the last place Mouse was chewing it....
It will be in the middle of the floor somewhere with fang holes and soggy edges.

@lallorona   I'd love to see a video of the kitty wide eyed with you head banging in the foreground.

I always do that with my foster babies. They seem to like it, and it calms them a lot ( along with the oh so wonderful bottle, lol!)

Two of my Sister's cats play fetch with her ( and me). Anything you toss will be returned, unless they can't find it....in which case they will bring you something else to toss for them. It's a game they really love, but I can't get mine to do it, so sad.

this is funny...My cat Seven started playing fetch with a toy mouse when he was a kitten and it wasnt something that was taught he just did it. one day i threw "mousy" and he brought it back. so then it turned into a game he used to bring me mousy and i'd throw it and say bring mousy back...good boy!

LOL  My cats go crazy when I sing.

But that's usually in full choral mode in the middle of the day.  I haven't tried a lullaby voice on them.
