My happy place.
I'm always rambling on about somthing or another to my girls and I think they enjoy it.
Amber will even talk back if I pause for her to answer, it's so cute.

So, do you? :D

I'll bet there are about zero people on this site who don't talk to their cats!
I talk to mine so much that hubby just assumes I'm talking to them, not him, unless I indicate otherwise....
Of course he talks to them all day, too.

Of course I talk to Autumn every single day.  A lot of it is gibberish baby talk but I also talk normally to her.  I'm surprised at how  much she understands.  I will also sing to her when she is sitting on my lap, at first she just keeps looking at me, then she flattens her ears, I don't think she likes my off key singing

I say her name a  lot so she definitely knows her name and most of the time she will come when I call her, if she hears me she comes.

How much talking? I don't usually converse with my cat, only because I feel silly -- I also don't like talking to a microphone (I pretty much only make an exception for my family). I do say a sentence or two, like "Don't fall off the couch," or "Don't you have food in your bowl still? Quit begging for mine."

Of course we all talk to our cats, we are on The cat site, silly me, what was I thinking. :doh3:
So funny that you have to tell your hubby when you are talking to him and not the cats. :lol3:

:lol3: I used to make my daughter's feel silly when their friends come over by talking to the cats but they have got used to it now.
I hate having to leave messages on answerphones, it's something I have to do quite often at work. I always end up talking really quick to get it over with.

Yeah, I talk to everymoggy, especially the ones who actually respond. I've got a few chatterboxes in the house who will hold up their end of the conversation. I also make a point of talking to any feral cats we foster, even if its just dumb stuff like "oh look at you hissing!" because it helps them get used to people gawking at them. I'm pretty sure they all think I'm nuts by now!

Yep, I talk to them in Japanese and in English. They understand both languages perfectly.

Anyone else have bilingual cats?

All the time.  All the time.  That's how they learn to recognize you.  Same with my ferals outside.  They know who I am and run from everyone else.

I used to chatter to my previous 2 'girls', and chatter away to Mouse too.  Mostly rubbish of course but he doesn't seem to mind.  He chatters back occasionally though he's much quieter than the girls were.  LoL.   He always comes running when I chatter to him though so I think he likes it.

Earlier this year I knew I'd found my ideal lodgers / house-mates when I met them for the first time.   Mouse instantly went over and sniffed about and had a little play with both of them (it's a couple), and they both started to chatter away to him and played while we talked about the room!  Mouse is a very good judge of potential tennants.

Within a couple of days of moving in with us Mouse had both of them wrapped around his paws and understanding exactly what his squeeks and trills meant, and the man (who's in his mid 30's) playing hide and seek and chattering away to him about all sorts of boy stuff in manly gruff tones (but if you went through to see what they were talking about you'd find Mouse was getting his belly rubbed and kissed).
Mouse had got himself 3 willing slaves instead of 1!

Where's your toy?

Okay okay okay!  I'm comin'.

It's funny you should say this. A few years ago when we just had Monty and Sasha my daughter brought a boyfriend home for dinner. The cats would not go near him. There was just something about him they didn't like and it made my daughter wonder too. Luckily they weren't together long.

A cat is the best judge of character and if your cat doesn't like somebody, there's usually a reason why.

Many years ago, our Rainbow Baby Banshee, was still alive. She loved everybody and trusted everybody who came into the house. She would sit on the floor between two people she didn't even know and roll over, exposing her belly....she was that trusting. Banshee was a one-of-a-kind kitty. One day a woman came into the house and Banshee despised her from the start. She literally glared at that woman. Of course, the woman simply had no clue and she was the type who tried too hard around cats....know what I mean? She walked over the Banshee, started cooing and ooing over her. Banshee put up with it, but she kept looking at me and I knew she was warning me, "Mom, make her stop. Please, make her stop or I'm not going to be responsible." And I did tell the woman she'd better stop. But nope. And Banshee had finally had it, reached out, and smacked the woman right across the face. And then she stalked away (and when I say that the Queen B stalked, I mean she stalked. Head and tail both held as high as could be). Well, we made a joke of it, but I knew that if the Queen didn't like this woman, there was something wrong. Banshee loved everybody. She was right and found out later in the end that Banshee was a very good judge of people. Most cats are.

But I digress....sorry. Yes, I talk to the kids all the time. Constantly. About all sorts of things. I talk to them about my day, ask them about their day, ask them what they want for dinner, I talk to Tabby while I'm baking cookies (more like warning her to stay off the table). Banshee used to sit on a kitchen chair in front of the pantry closet and she would watch everything I did in the kitchen. She would talk back to me, too.  When Tabby is looking outside and watching the snow come down or watching the leaves scatter about, I ask her what she's thinking about....she may chirp a little at me, but that's about it.

My " Autumn" looks a lot like yours!
And of course I talk to my cats, as does my husband. Anyone listening in would likely think we are talking to each other, but not so, lol!

Lol! That's pretty much exactly it, except for the names. Or I can add " get your paws out of the bead drawer, beads, or plastic bags full of beads!

Yes, I've always talked to my cats, and they've always seemed to like it. .  .  I even go one step further and make up songs for my cats. OK , you guys will think I'm crazy but when I adopted Peaches I thought up a son for her.  Here it goes....

Hello my name is Peaches, I hope that you like that.  And if you take me home with you I'll be your very best cat!

Officially nuts, but I'm a composer at heart (though not a very good one) must have been 11 years year's of piano lessons....
