How do you wrap gifts and packages for Christmas?

OK, I admit it.....I hate wrapping anything. Even basic boxes. I don't wrap well and I don't enjoy it. Dear Richard, OTOH, loves to wrap packages and he does a beautiful job. All the corners match, all the lines match. It's pathetic. Really.
I don't know how he has the patience; his wrapping is beautiful. He wraps the packages for everybody and I wrap his things, usually on Christmas Eve while he and his mom are at church.

We don't do bows and ribbons anymore on packages, even for the grandchildren. Why? It's just another cat toy! Heck, those cats even like to chew the corners of the packages! Everybody is rather used to receiving packages with chewed corners by now; it happens every year. We normally don't bring out our wrapped packages until Christmas Eve for that very reason. I think I have a picture somewhere of Ms. Pepe all curled up on top of a present with a chewed corner, just napping away. Brats, I tell you. Brats. (When our granddaughter was younger, we handed her a gift. She looked at it and said, "There's holes in my present! Somebody chewed on my present!" I told her it was Rudolph; he was hungry, so he tasted her present. But I fed him some carrots before he left our house, so he was OK.
The things you tell your kids! And, to this day, Rudolph always has a special present for her because he "tasted" her gift years ago. Seriously, it's from Rudolph. Honest.  And it usually has a chewed corner, too.
)

This year, Rick's "big" gift is a stand for his miter saw (that way he can take the saw outside to work, which saves on clean-up in the basement); he's wanted one now for a while. The box is about six feet long and about a foot in width and height. The box has been standing up against the wall next to the piano now for about two weeks, ever since I bought it. I ordered it from Home Depot, had it shipped to his parents and he picked it up in his truck. I'm not wrapping the thing, but I'll put a big red bow on it. It's not like he doesn't know what it is. But I will wrap his other gifts and put them under the tree.

I will put my sister and BIL's things in a big Christmas bag for them.

We do enjoy opening presents. Even when we know what the package is, we still "ooh" and "ahhh" over things. I guess it's corny, but we enjoy it.

Oh! And do you do stocking stuffers? We have stockings for Rick and for me as well as all the cats. Mollipop, Tabby, and Muffin have stockings with their names on them. I usually give Rick his Hallmark Tasmanian Devil tree ornament in his stocking. Some cashews from our local natural food store, some chocolate covered pretzels from our local candy place. A couple lottery tickets. A big post-a-note pad for his desk. Some little tablets (he keeps tablets in his truck, in his lunch box, on his desk, at work, etc. When you're forgetful, tablets come in very handily). Little things as I find them while I'm shopping. I wrap those, too.

The cats always get some catnip, two cans of Fancy Feast for each stocking, and some toys for each stocking.

Any packages I wrap look horrible, so I use gift bags whenever possible (and recycle the ones I get). As a kid, I always loved stocking stuffers - my mom always found the greatest stuff - so I've continued the tradition. We both have stockings, and so does Mogli. He didn't quite know what to make of it last Christmas, but Jamie had learned by his second Christmas that his stocking meant goodies, so it'll be interesting to see whether Mogli remembers this year.

Same here
I just "wrapped" some gifts and the packages looks like a toddler had done the wrapping
But it's the thought that counts, right?

I bought  a set of Christmas bags from QVC last year.  You just pop the gift into the bag and pull the ties together to close it and it looks beautiful.  It comes in all sizes and decorations.  If you have something odd to wrap, just drop it into the bag and it looks great, you cannot see through the bags either.  I love them and the bags are of strong quality, very pretty and quick.

I saw something on TV which looked really easy to do.

You get crepe paper, and wind it around the gift until it's completely covered. Then, tie up a really nice fabric ribbon/bow around it.  Works for very small items, I can't see doing that for a box, but the effect was really lovely.

I'm a slapdash wrapper and the parcels always look doubly awful because I recycle the wrapping paper. Haven't bought paper in years. All the bits and pieces are old friends now. Can't use cloth bags even though I bought tons of material years ago to make some because the kid is a snoop. Don't use tags because I know most of what's under the tree and can't be bothered with "to and from." It gets boring. Get the "I don't think this one's mine" occasionally.

My happy place.
You can all send your presents to me, I love wrapping! I could do it all day long.
I do the bows and ribbon too and use lovely fancy writing on the gift tag.

We used to do stockings when the children were young but not any more and the cats don't get stockings or presents either, they get gifts all year long. I almost always come back from a shopping trip with something for them and they don't even look at half of it!

Nice

Years ago there was an article in a Martha Stewart Living Magazine about how to tie the perfect gift bow and how to perfectly wrap a gift of any size or shape. I followed the instructions to a T and could not get the end results to look anything like the pictures in the magazine

Um.. I just do the best I can! If it's a bigger gift my brother helps me (if it's for my mom or dad) with it or my mom (if it's for my dad or my brother) does because I get so frustrated lol. I totally stink at wrapping gifts but it is something I really enjoy even though I'm awful at it. It doesn't need to look perfect it is going to be torn open anyway. Good thing I don't sign up to gift wrap things for others at the mall that don't want to wrap them or don't have the time.

Also I don't just put them unwrapped in a gift bag unless it's for my pets... if it's for people I won't just shove it in a gift bag unwrapped lol. I enjoy unwrapping presents as does my family so it's kind of a tradition to wrap all the presents unless it's for the pets because they show no interest in unwrapping. But they show interest in me wrapping presents.

We do stocking stuffers.. but like gift cards, candy, that sort of thing.

I used to be OK at wrapping presents. Then I started to work at the Container Store. Their Gift Wrap Wonderland- I've learned how to wrap properly with neat creases, and learned how to make bows out of ribbons. Poinsettia bows, basic bows, star-like bows. Now if I feel like it, my presents can come out really nice.. but I am lazy. Especially knowing it'll only be torn apart.

On gift tags, I always cross off "From" and write "Love". makes it a little more personal!

How do I wrap gifts? Well, quite terribly. I still do it though. Gifts are fun to unwrap, and they're funny even when (especially when) terribly wrapped. Most of my packages have huge wads of wrapping paper rolled up and taped to the sides.

I've watched this GIF so many times but my stuff never turns out that nice. I seldom have neat small boxes.
