My few months shy of a year old male cat began pooping diarrhea with bits of blood in it and he was a bit lethargic as well. I immediately changed him to soft catfood and took him to the vet, whom at first said He needed worming but after worming he was still pooping diarrhea and blood so I took him back, the vet said he had pnuemonia and giardis So we started him on an antibiotc and he seemed to get better for awhile then he began pooping bloody diarrhea again. I had two stool tests done from two different vets one was faulty and the other hasn't come in yet evidently. I have given him pancur for approx 4 days and going on his fifth day tommorow. the second vet I took him too started him on liquid pancur and told me he had a low fever as well.

We also started him on metronidazole and he seemed to get sicker so we went back to the pancur and antibiotic. I'm on fourth day and he is straining so hard, he eats then drinks and then poops at first slimey diarrhea with a bit of blood  and then he will strain and only a drop of clear mucus or bit diarrhea comes out or even nothing sometimes. He also pees large amounts. I give him very very small amounts of baby aspirin and he seems to not feel in pain after awhile (his abdomen is hurting from straining)

He's still lethargic but has an appetite and drinks a lot. I've been up for two weeks now monitoring his poops and pees. Me and this kitten are very close I raised him after his momma disappeared. However he gets into trash left out by careless family members and he is known to get into egg shells with raw eggs or rotten stuff or bones.

He could have salomonella or something awful and I can't get my vets to get me results only assumptions! My baby is in pain and I can't handle seeing him like this. My vet didn't even mark his vaccinations down or anything so no one can remember if he had one ***.

Earlier in my house today something pooped bright red bloody poop like Parvo (like in dogs) and it smelt awful however I am not sure if it was my cat since he hasnt yet done anything similar. My dogs and other cat were in the house but appear fine.

I've been researching diseases, wiping him, cleaning him, warming him as much as possible, sleeping with him, given him a closer litterpan and water and food. He still wants to eat, and can jump and make doe etc but he has lost a lot of weight still and is weak. He still continues to poop as well and always it is mucus like poop with drops or streaks of red.

I can't get anyone to do an xray and I don't even know if I can afford it I've paid so much on him and bills currently. I will work to do anything for him though I love this cat so much.

Is this Giardis? Or IBS or what do you think?

I have not slept in days and am with him nearly every moment of the day aside from tasks I need to do. I am taking him to work even.

I need help or suggestions?

Giardis tests are quite simple I think. I suspected giardis by Daisy a year ago, and they checked her poo and within a couple of minutes I got the result that it was nog giardia.

I got her on a special diet for a few weeks for her intestines.

What are his symptoms beside this? You say he drinks more often. Do you know if his urine is ok? Or going for a blood test?

Don't give him aspirin, even if it's for baby's. Most medicine are toxic to cats - like aspirin. Also in small amounts. If you want to give him a painkiller, it should be a medicine for cats, like onsior.
