To my dearest friend.
I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying you found it hard to sleep.
I spoke to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you; I smiled and said, "it's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to me.

It did help me.  I'm so glad it helped you as well.  We all need all the help we can get to transition through such painful losses. :)

I hate to say it but she still looks kind of lost. Poor baby, the loss of her Sis and playmate must have been very hard on her too. Mine have also been yowling ( and searching everywhere). In our grief sometimes we may forget how hard it is for them as well. My tears mingle with yours, and everyone else here.
And there are so many horrendous things I'd never even heard of before! Makes me wish I'd gone back to Vet school instead of the military. Is she an only kitty now? I know it probably sounds crazy--but sometimes it can help to bring in a new one ( or maybe I've just been lucky with my bunch. The only kitten that was ever attacked was a part Bengal, part Savannah a dear friend gave me. But I think she smelled so different that she scared them. They are all family now.
I am still amazed by Button's taking care of Rascal. He even brought bits of food, as well as the washing and snuggling. I really need to post some photos. My heart goes out to you both, and you've been such a help to me, I wish I could do something for you.

Mik and Min stopped cuddling with each other as they grew however did the chasing and play wrestle thing. Min would wake me to eat in the night and we'd head to the kitchen and she'd go to the upstairs steps and wait til Mikki came down to join her [emoji]128522[/emoji] I always said if Mikki died first it would break my heart to see Minnie go to the steps and Mik not come down as it was such a routine.. so they were definitely close but I didn't expect Mikki to be this affected. I am so unsure of another kitty as to stress Mikki out if they are not compatible..

I know what you mean. Mine are so used to cats coming and going ( I foster), that it isn't much of a big deal to them anymore. I've followed my sister's advice with much success ( and she has 11 cats and a small dog!).
Anyway, her suggestion is to keep them separated for at least two weeks, but allow them to smell each other ( under the door?). You can also exchange bedding so the smell gets kind of mixed together between them. And finally, you can actually make a kind of tea out of catnip! When it's cool add a bit more water and put into a spray bottle. Then you can lightly spritz both ( especially near the tail) and they end up playing instead of fighting. It's likely too early now, but I thought I'd pass on this tidbit in case you change your mind.

thank you Connie. Mik and Min had another littermate.. that my son took, and he introduced K.O. to his other kitty like you said...propping the door just a tad so they could see and smell each other for awhile. They were both males, and it was pretty rough going for awhile.. they ended up tolerating each other, but I would want so much more for Mikki... never know unless you try though :)
ps: we thought we had Mickey and Minnie (boy/girl) when we got them, but discovered Mickey was a girl...thus changed her name spelling to Mikki :)
