We noticed Angel's ear is puffy - looks like some kind of infection, or maybe bug bite. I had some ear ointment that the vet had given us previously and put it on her ear. But if the swelling doesn't go down we'll call the vet and make an appointment.

I just called the vet and made an appointment to bring Angel in tomorrow morning. The receptionist said that it sounds like it might be a hematoma (sp?). Comes from scratching ear and liquid builds up. Again, that was just her guess based on what she has seen in the office, but the dr will know for sure. They said to not feed her in the morning, since it might need to be drained surgically, and we will need to leave her there for the day since they will have to sedate her. Again - we won't really know til tomorrow. Poor little baby - she's Pauls pride and joy and he is so upset about his little Angel! Her ear looks all droopy.

Will let you know what happens tomorrow.

Angel is having surgery on her ear today. Buildup of blood vessels, probably from scratching. They have to sedate her, she'll wear a cone for 10 days until the stitches come out. I just broke down leaving her in the cage at the vet's office. I know she'll be ok but I feel so bad for my poor little baby. Dr said it is painful, and after the surgery her ear might be a little "wilted". Guess it'll give her a distinctive look. I miss her already and the tears just keep coming. I know it's not life threatening or anything like that, but I just hate to see her go thru this.

Will let you know how she is doing.

Poor Angel. :( It is so hard leaving them at the vets like that isn't it? I'm sure the surgery will go just fine, and it doesn't sound very complicated. Let us know how she does.

Just got a call from the dr. Angel's surgery went well, she is starting to wake up. Will pick her up late this afternoon. She will have the collar on, will be given pain meds, antibiotics, and she also had some fleas. She's an indoor cat but I guess fleas can still get in the house. Tony is looking for her, but I don't think tippytoes cares. So much for sisterly love! Can't wait to see my poor little baby. It's only a few hours but we miss her!

Angel is home and very "loopy" from the anesthesia. She has a small cone on her head, her ear looks bad from the surgery. She needs to keep the cone on until our 12/19 appointment to remove the stitches. Poor baby keeps trying to walk and falls over.

Angel is more herself today. No more walking into walls and falling over, but still trying to get the cone off her head. We now call her Conehead! She was able to eat, drink water, and fighting me when I give her the antibiotic (bandage on my hand to prove it). I have to brag about my beautiful Tony. He doesn't let her out of his sight and follows her all around. She slept on a blanket in the bedroom (didn't put her on the bed because we were afaid she'dfall off), but Tony stayed on the blanket and watched her like a hawk. That cat has so much love in his big heart --- and he is so special, not a mean bone in his body.

So far Angel is doing better. She hates the cone (of course) but has learned to manage it. Eats and drinks fine, but still doesn't have depth perception so she walks into walls since she doesn't know where the cone ends. Tony is still her nurse and protector. He's such a wonderful cat and so loving. Tippy just glares at her and if she could talk she'd say "I'm glad it isn't me!".

Friday she goes in to have her stitches removed - can't wait and I bet she can't either.
