AWWWWWWW!!!! Very, very sweet. I am glad you adopted Happy too. I said no dogs after my Wilbur and Henry, but now I have TWO more Jack's. :lol3:
Well you just made up my mind for me Stewball. I was going to let him out because he's been asking to go out for the last few days but wondering when and if he'd come back even though we have over a foot of snow out there. He finally came out from behind the piano and sofa. He let me pat and rub him. But when I touched him near where I put my hands when I tried to pick him up he ran away. I think he should stay in the house with a lot of loving tomorrow. Maybe I'll open the door to my porch and let him and Happy go out there. It's the next best thing to going outside because it is glassed in. It is not a heated porch that is used in winter only spring summer and early fall. I close it in late October and open it in mid April. But I can put a portable ceramic heater out there tomorrow and it should be fine for them especially when the sun gets into the southern sky as the porch faces south. Happy loves it out there maybe Pi will too. Problem is I will be away from home for about 4 hours day after tomorrow so he can't go out until Friday at the earliest and who knows what weather we will have then! My friend is a wonderful person and I am so grateful for her being here but it doesn't make my situation with Pi easier rather more difficult. He is leary of her and she really thinks I should let him out and that he won't stay out long.Judy keep him in tomorrow to let him forget about the cage business. That was a trauma. You can't let him out after what happened today.
Thank you for the tip. I will surely try it WITH my coat on next time!Just read about the trouble getting Pi into his carrier for the vet visit. My cat, Ruby, hates to be picked up, thus getting her in the carrier for a vet visit was difficult to say the least.
My vet suggested a technique which has helped a lot with Ruby. Put the carrier up on a high surface (table, desk, etc) then pick up the cat and point them into the carrier. Because they are up high there is nowhere to go except in the carrier. Once cat is in carrier, shut the door.
I tried it last time Ruby had to go to the vet and it really worked. So that is something you might want to try with Pi. And, of course, wear your coat to protect from scratches.
Good luck!
Yes Stewball I did take stool samples to the vet, one for Pi and one for Happy to be sure he hasn't picked up Pi's worms. His eye seems a bit better. Maybe it was just a cold. He's had it on and off for about 6 weeks I'd guess. Yesterday he wasn't squinting it so much and there was no discharge. I pray the vet will prescribe a medication for the worms once the results are in and not insist on examining him first. Pi has never been examined by my vet only the vet from PetRescue NY where he was neutered in their TNR program. He was given a 3 year rabies vaccination there as well and examined for all feline diseases. They are a wonderful organization. I adopted Happy for them. My friend is going on a short visit to Stamford, CT today which is about a half hour drive north of here. She likes to visit several antique shops in that area when she comes to stay here. That will give Pi some "normal" time with his new mom and brother. Maybe it will help to calm his nerves. My friend leaves for her home on Sunday and Pi can go into his beloved garage to play and run around again in addition to the house! Stewball you asked if the vet makes house calls. In the USA doctors no longer make house calls--neither people doctors nor vets! It's sad that practice stopped. It was probably over 50 years ago it did. They have too many patients now to do that. MAYBE in some rural areas they still do but it's rare if they do. Well, must get up, dressed and downstairs to see how my little Pi-Pi is today.I think the longer you can keep him in the better.
you're obviously going to have trouble taking him to the vet. I have it with blighty. Whisky is such a good little boy. He causes no problems. You took samples to the vet didn't you?
How is his eye?
Poor little boy. The things we have to do to our babies for their own good but they don't understand that.
Does he let you pick him up? Blighty is very hard to. He manages to get his bulk away quite quickly and then comes back like nothing's happened. He slides through my fingers.
Good luck and have a good day. I'll be thinking of you and pi.
hugs.
Thanks for the info about getting disoriented in the snow. Maybe that's why Pi went out after that first big snow storm we had and didn't come home until 10 PM. I think that was February 4th. Normally he's home by 4 PM and I was nearly hysterical with worry. As far as losing some of their winter coat indoors it makes perfect sense. I am hoping that because he has been inside for now 2 weeks with only out for a couple of minutes on 3 mornings last week that when I do let him out again he will not like the cold and return after a short time of his own mind.Girls I just was reading about someone who posted about there feral cat . Did you know that cats can get disoriented with new layers of snow. That's why it could take time for them to come back. And that if there in the house to long they can lose a lot of there winter coat? I did not know all this.
Stewball, I received this post at approximately 8:40 this morning (Wednesday). Does that help you with time?I took them together. The babies in one cage and lotto in the other. Coming home was terrible. I cut through a little park and there was a group of twen age boys. They asked if I was managing and then one detached himself and carried them home for me. Nice child.
After a month of happiness it was discovered that the sisters had FIP. I was desolate and worried about my lotto whowas an oold man.
There that story should cheer you up. :-)
Both my boys are a bit worried. We're having a sort of sandstorm and the wind frightened them.
It's 3.15pm. I'm trying to find out the time difference between us. You're a few hours behind me.
hugs.
