Wondering if anyone can please give me some advice. I've been force feeding Trina my 8 yr old female who has liver disease. She was at the vets for 3 days and blood wrk is showing improvement but it's been 4 weeks and she's still not eating on her own. I'm doing fluids under the skin everyday and feeding Hills AD every 3-4 hrs and yes twice in the night. I feel like I'm taking care of a newborn baby with out diapers. : ) Some days her coloring is pink and I think she's acting and looking great then she vomiting and starts looking yellow again. Wondering what I can add to her food to help with nausea. Vet gave me Mirtazapine and all that did was make her sleep. I'm very dedicated and determined to get her back and healthy. Any advice and support would really help, thk u!

I would look into giving a supplement called Denemarin, it has SAM-e and Milk Thistle extract in it.  I think it really helped my kitty recover from fatty liver disease.  It does have to be swallowed whole, it has a protective coating on it so that it breaks down in the intestines.      They also sell it in chewables but I would stick with the tablets with the protective coating.

Has your vet said anything about a feeding tube?  I think it not only makes the feedings easier but I think it also helps with the nausea.  The act of having food in the mouth and swallowing seems to make things worse.

Yes I did read that it helps and I asked her and she wrinkled her face at me and shook her head no so I'm don't know what to believe. I kinda feel like I might need a different vet.

Well she did suggest the tube feeding but I guess it sounded evasive and expensive but I leaning towards that if it would help with the vomiting. How many weeks did it take until your cat ate on his own?

I'm ordering the Denamarin tablets right away, thank you! I did read about milk thistle being helpful, it's worth a try.
