My cat started out at 16 pounds.  She was on all dry diet. I switched some feedings to wet(less calories) Started timed feedings.  Got her down to 14 pounds. But cannot get her to anything less. If she does go below 14, it ends up back the next week or so.   I am making sure she is not eating what the others have left.  I even switched to Authority dry which is less calories then the other dry they were on.

She curently gets about 200 calories per day.  Maybe I need to lower it? She gets 1/4 dry and 3 oz of wet.

I dont feed the same foods every week. But have been switching around each day. But feed Nutro Natural Choice,(mostly)  Wellness Turkey and Duck,   Merrick Cowboy cookout mixed with Hound and gatos chicken.  Merrick Turkey,  Sheba and fancy feast once in awhile.

Has anyone been through this and find out it wasnt the food? maybe hypothyroid or something else?  The vet said mittens needs to be about 12 pounds.

I have 6 other cats, none of them have trouble with weight.  They get 1/2 cup of dry and 1 oz of wet per day.

Authority grain free chicken dry food has 380 calories per measuring cup ('weight control' has around 346, generally more carbs less protein and fat, which is the opposite of what cats need.
Most wet foods do list the caloric content on the labels. You might try phasing out the dry all together and feeding instead Wellness.
So, yeah, it's possible you may have to reduce the amount of calories you give your cat. Or, maybe get her to play more.
I know it's hard getting a cat to lose weight; I have a constant internal battle with Ritz (partly because of my own issues with food).
I tell myself, she may 'hate' me in the morning, but she'll like me even less if I have to give her insulin shots.
Finally, some cats (and peoples!) metabolism is just sloowwwww.
Good luck.

yes 380 but less then the 484 and 446 I was feeding. but I think the carbs might be higher. I thought I figured it out before I bought it. Maybe not.

All wet food is the best way to get and keep your cats at a good healthy weight. And getting her from 16 pounds to 14 is a great start! I'm not great at math but a 2 pound loss for a creature that weighed 16 pounds is huge! Good job!

My budget doesnt allow more wet food in their diet. I took all 7 of them over the past few years. I switched to grain free diet. Added more wet food. I am disappointed in myself. As I was thinking Authority wasnt this high in carbs. So much for saving $. I was feeding them this..
Crude Protein (Min.)36.0%360 g/kg
Crude Fat (Min.)16.0%160 g/kg
Crude Fiber (Max.)7.0%70 g/kg
Moisture (Max.)10.0%100 g/kg
 Now this..

Crude Protein (min) 32.0%
Crude Fat (min) 16.0%
Crude Fiber (max) 3.0%
Moisture (max) 10.0%

Would your cat do fine on Friskies Mixed Grill Pate Cans? They come by really cheap especially in 12oz cans. Very affordable and it's much lower in carbs then what you are feeding now.
