Hi. This is awkward.

My indoor cat had ear mites as a kitten but was treated and for a long time had none, but he's been scratching at his ears.

He did have a surprise flea infestation recently, soon after my cat sitter took care if him... It took me a long time to catch on what was happening however. I hadn't had him on anything for fleas since spring and thSt was Frontline, so I put him on that.

Didn't work, he was covered in white stuff and scratching like mad, plus I found 3 fleas on him...huge, weird fleas yes fleas however.

About the same time, I discovered I had a minor bedbug problem. I found some on a coat, and another on a blanket taken from coat closet. I've been treated. Pest guy found no more, no signs at all.

But meanwhile I am sometimes bitten, generally in vicinity of my cat, who sleeps on my bed.

I'm hoping and praying my recent bites could be from ear mites, possibly leftover fleas. I'm not finding any signs of bb on the bed, which is encased. The bites seem where I hug the blanket to my neck. I wash my sheets and dry to bb protocol, which should kill fleas too...but I have read revolution won't kill ear mites?

The bites are minor. I've had experts tell me it's not possible to have bb without finding concrete evidence of them, which I haven't, not for 6 weeks and not since spraying. They insist it's something else. So here I am clutching at straws....might I be being bit by fleas or mites? The bites seem concentrated on my ear/neck area, like I said... I swear I feel something jumping on my legs, but when I look nothing is there.

Do fleas get into blankets? Ear mites ?

Sorry for the manifesto lol.
Thank you.

Both fleas and ear mites are 'animal lovers' so though it is possible to be bitten by fleas while in bed with an infected cat, they won't stay on you like on cats or dogs. Check your cat by looking on his abdomen, where his legs meet there in that crease, fleas love to be there an dare easily seen where the hair is thinner. It sounds like maybe you have to treat with something stronger and 'retreat', because any eggs that survive will hatch later when the treatment is gone.  I know fleas can be very difficult to get rid of, good luck and keep posting! PS I just thought of something, are you sure the 'bugs' you found on your cat are fleas and not bedbugs. Flea treatment wouldn't help there. You might want to try to bring one in to a vet to identify it.

Hi, yes, sure it was a flea. I saw the "jumping leg" plus, one jumped. I've seen the pupae (ug) as well as the skinny larva on my carpet. I'm just trying to figure out if fleas would be in the blanket rather than you know? The other. I have monitors for the bb and so far so good but until or unless I get bite free for a few months, I have to wonder.

Yes, fleas could be on the blanket, they would leave your cat if they sensed a bigger, warm body near by(YOU), and think, they can live in the grass (and the carpet) waiting for a cat or warm blooded creature to walk by. Vacuum frequently to suck up any eggs, and maybe spray some flea killer into your vacuum bag or canister, you don't want a breeding ground in there! Wash any cat bedding too, to make it easier buy a couple of those cheap little blankets or even towels and put them where your cat lays so you can wash them, it's easier then trying to clean a couch! My heart goes out to you, you have not one but two pest problems, I pray you get bug free for good soon!
