Hello, kitty parents! I am writing asking for advice...my 10mo Orange tabby has ringworm...I think it's pretty bad, though I have never actually seen ringworm on a kitty before. I fostered a single kitten a month ago and I think he may have brought it with him and infected my baby... :( we went to a local vet and she confirms it was ringworm by looking at it. She prescribed Grisofulvin and sulfur lime dips. I also bought Sulfinex cream to apply to the wounds. This is the worst...my poor baby is so sad and isn't used to bathroom confinement. Are we doing everything we can to help him? I'm so afraid we aren't doing enough for him...I don't want to see him suffer. Any recommendations or advice would be great...

Sincerely,
Overwhelmed Kitty Mommy

Oh boy - ringworm is no walk in the park and I should know. Been there. Many years ago two kittens I also fostered ended up having it. Sounds to me that what you vet had prescribed and is treating is spot on to me. Hard as it is to get through, there is a light at the end of this tunnel. And, you kitten will be quite used to bathing! Is she confined because you have other cats? Try to make the bathroom a fun place for her then during this time. Not fun for you but if you could even put up some vertical space for you kitten in there, that would help.

Oh - I wanted to mention, that I always would recommend shaving any kitten or cat with ringworm to get rid of the hair and the spores being spread. IMO - and if I had another problem with it - all cats would be shaved down to the skin. Bathing is so much easier, they dry quickly AND you can visually see anymore spots that may be erupting so you can spot treat them as well.

side note: Colloidal Silver used directly on the spots four times per day works to kill the fungus too. CS is great to have on hand for multiple reasons too. Excellent for wound care. Here is the one some of us use:
