This is the season when many people take out their snow globe collections to display lovely winter scenes throughout the house.  While many of these are unbreakable plastic and filled with harmless fluid, many of the older ones are breakable and filled with a fluid that contains some elements of antifreeze, which is poisonous to cats.  If you have snow globes to display, be very careful to put them in cat proof places, like enclosed cabinets, or to use a strong adhesive to anchor them to high shelves so they will not fall even if you experience an earthquake.  Here is a link to a letter published several yers ago on a Ragdoll cat site.  It is a sad story, so you may not want to read it, but it is an example of the dangers of snow globes to cats.  Please do share this warning with anyone you know who might not be aware of the dangers.  http://www.floppycats.com/dangers-of-snowglobes-and-cats.html
