Help! I need to get these on & keep them on! I took Malachy to a groomer to have them applied the first time & figured I could keep them up after that (on Friday - today is Sunday) - he was soooo bad, she had me help as she could not do it alone. Two out 10 have already come off already. He was crazy insane over the application ...like a wild animal ...the sounds he made were unworldly ...he has to have them on in his new home or I can't keep him. ( I moved back in with my husband 6 weeks ago - we have a dog - I got the cat after originally moving out last spring.)
Malachy scratched the dog's eye last week - the two of them are actually doing good together - it happened because the dog startled the cat, it wasn't bullying. But it could have been serious - fortunately it was not. However, it can't happen again. I have to keep these things on or I will either have to surrender him or move out again. I love my husband of course & our dog ...but I love Malachy too & don't want to loose him. He goes crazy when I try to handle his feet. He is fine once the Soft Claws are on, no bother at all ...but I need to be able to restrain him safely & keep myself safe too. I'll try to get my husband to help but it would be unrealistic to call a friend every other day to help put a cap or 2 on. Not sure why they are coming off already after 2 days when I read all the success stories here about them. I have watched videos & like I said - helped the groomer apply them. Malachy is 2 &1/2 and came from a shelter. I have had him 8 months. He scratches walls & furniture too ...there is a lot of wood work here which I did not have in my apartment & he finds it very appealing. Hubby has no tolerance for this but the dog's safety is the primary concern.
edited to add: he is good for vet care & also accepts brushing plus I get him butt clipped and he is pretty good for that ...just goes bizerk with having his feet/toes handled. I'm trying to play with his feet a bit every chance I get when he is calm & sleepy ...maybe with time this will help.
