I rescued a kitty, the vet thinks she isn't quite 6 mo old.  She was out in the cold and snowing.  I took her to the vet the next day because she was sneezing and had drainage out of her nose.

The gave her her shots, tested neg for feline leukemia.  She was given antibiotics which she took for 5 days.  I took her back because she still was sneezing and coughing.  They put her on Clindamycin Hydrochloride.  She still doesn't seem right.

I don't know what to do.

Anyone have any ideas?

She sounds like she is still sick, a cat cold can go on for easily 10+ days,  but coughing suggests lung involvement which is not good.  Clindamycin is not usually used with upper respiratory infections, it's mostly used for mouth infections so I'm very curious why your vet prescribed that, and I would suggest you ask them. More common antibiotics for URI's are Clavamox or Doxycycline.

Here is a good article: http://www.happycatshaven.org/kitty-colds-how-to-help-a-cat-with-uri/

StephenQ  thank you for you reply.  She was on a antibiotic and since she still was showing symptoms it was then he prescribed Clinda. I looked it up on the internet and it didn't fit her symptoms but I thought maybe there are other uses for it.  Makes me mad.

It's been almost three weeks since we found her and took her the very next day after we found her.  I will take her to a different vet.  She goes in to get spayed tomorrow.   I am going to tell them what's been going on.   I'm hoping they will check her out.

I also think she hasn't been treated well.

It's possible they won't want to spay her while she is ill.

@Lucy Girl, normally I'm all for getting the kitties spayed; but, since your girl is still sick I'd hold off until she is well. Anesthesia lowers the immune system and the added stress of surgery is very likely going to make her sicker.

We have a 7.5 mo old that has chronic herpes (fairly severe.) We've had to postpone her spay 4 times due to active flare-ups. It seems just as she gets close to her surgery date, she gets sick again (the vets want her to be symptom-free for 2 wks prior to surgery...this coming from her regular drs and her ophthalmologist.)
