My cat has very bad food allergies.

He broke out on:

Natures variety LID Lamb

Natures vareity LID turkey

Evo's 95% Duck

Innova's cat and kitten formula

Buffalo

Beef is definitely a no-go.

I've tried home cooked meals with both chicken and rice or turkey and rice. Didn't work

So this leaves:  Venison, Rabbit, and Boar meat. Kangaroo if I could find it in the US?

Natural balance has come out with Boar meat for dogs... I've emailed them for a nutritional breakdown as I may be able to supplement taurine with it.

Should I try to avoid potatoes? Are potatoes toxic to cats or is that only if they are green?

The natures variety had peas in it, so I'm trying to avoid those as maybe he wasn't reacting to the meat.

Sarah, I would try a pure commercial raw to rule out everything. Simplify it as much as possible since the allergy could be to almost anything. In this regard Radcat has pure meat choices without fruit/veggie fillers. They have chicken, turkey,,rabbit, and one other I don't remember. If he does well then branch out from there to other brands or homemade that you can control what goes in.

As for potatoes, I don't think they are toxic but I try to avoid veggies as they only act as cheap filler. I do feel that carbs stress a feline GI system over the long haul possibly triggering chronic ailments such as diabetes and IBD.

Rad Cat is a great frozen raw food: each has just one kind of meat (lamb, chicken, turkey), though they all do have egg. Our cats love Rad Cat!

I avoid potato for our cats, both because of carbs and because potato seems to make one of the cats vomit. I stay away from peas, too. Cats just don't need peas!

Good luck, Sarah Ann!
