DISCLAIMER: Ideally I would be at a vet not on a message board looking for answers unfortunately a tight financial situation isn't allowing that option immediately but will get him there as soon asap. So while waiting to round up the necessary funds I hoped to get some feedback from others rather than worry to myself.

So heres the situation. My kitty is Mono male & approx 8 yrs old. He is our only pet and lives entirely indoors. About 2 weeks ago he suddenly (like overnight fast)formed a considerably large lump (size of med egg) around where his hind quarter meets his outer thigh on the edge there was a small pea size bad spot that looked tender but not bleeding and no puncture. I initially though he'd gotten caught on something and his hair puled out. Since then the bald area has grown to about an inch and a half and the skin is red but flat the mass(es?) start at the borders of the bald area. It's become lumpy sort of U shape , He has no other symptoms and his eating, bathroom, behavior is the same as always. If the area bothers him at all its very mildly. I catch him licking the area a little more frequently than normal but it could just be the absence of hair confusing him. The bald area had a very tiny bit of yellow seepage and even smaller about of blood spotting more than actual bleeding once I began cleaning the area with peroxide it stopped all together. The lumpy nodules aren't really hard or soft but somewhere in the middle, similar to a flexed muscle... firm but still pliable.Lastly is the fact that while the bad patch grows larger the nodule always stays at the border with zero hair loss and the bad area is never raised or swollen. So basicaly the area that orginally formed a nodule is now flat again but has no hair.

So after spending a lot of quality time with Google my head is now spinning. I've ruled out an abscess since he's in no pain and he'd have had to had a cat fight with himself in order to be bitten or clawed. fibrosarcoma fits a lot of the symptoms but overnight growth seems a little crazy even for a "quick" cancer. I more favorable option seems to be ringworm even though the bald area is not a ring but more of a strip.... basically I'm still clueless so I figured I'd tap the brains of other kitty lovers/owners and see if anyone has any ideas. Thanks in advance for reading this mini-novel of a post. :D

Generally something that developed this quickly makes one think of either infection or allergic reaction (to a bug bite, etc?)  You could try warm compresses, and see if it drains, but without a vet visit, there is a risk of what could be an inexpensive problem now becoming an expensive one later.....

I would be concerned that if it is an infection, with the size and placement you are describing, that it could rupture internally and cause all kinds of havoc on surrounding organs.

That being said, I have had an instance where a tumorous growth grew exponentially very quickly between my dogs toes one day.  It was one of those things that was so surreal, I couldn't believe what I was watching.  I called my vet, and even she doubted what I was describing.  But by the time I brought my poor boy in, the skin was rupturing, and she was astounded.  They ended up removing a toe along with the tumor and they sent it off for analysis.  I don't remember what the results were, but it was definitely one of those "ya don't see every day" kinda things.

I'm sorry, Bonepicker, are you asking ME to post a photo of my dog's toe tumor?  It was several years ago, and I didn't get one.  Sorry.

Besides, this thread isn't about me.  I only related my experience as a comparison.

I would be more interested in a photo of the OP's condition, if they are still here.
