While living in a two kitty household has a multitude of blessings, one of the biggest curses is difficulty in telling who is so sick. :(

I'm almost certain it is Ollie. I always come home to chunky, yellowish vomit (ew, sorry) and diarrhea outside of the litterbox. Both cats still have their appetites and playfulness so it's very hard to tell. I'm thinking it can be because of one or two things:
1. Ollie has been taking Cestex for tapeworms, as prescribed by the vet. He got his first dose two weeks ago and his second one will be today. I'm unsure of the side effects of this medicine.
2. Both cats are attracted to be artificial Christmas tree and I've caught them munching on it. I have seen fake pine needles in the vomit.
Any insight? :(

We moved the tree to another room the cats are not allowed to get into and vacuumed up all the loose needles. Is there anything I can do to help him in the meantime?

Are these needles pointy? Could he perforate his bowel with them?

If you think it's just the tapeworms then you might just give the Meds a chance to work but my suggestion would be to call your vet on Monday and discuss the entire situation.

The needles are very flexible which is what I find perplexing; it seems like they should pass right through without incident! I've had it up for at least two weeks now and he started getting sick maybe four days ago.

I bought Easential Pet's anti diarrhea liquid and gave him his first dose tonight. Here's hoping!

I copied and pasted this off a clinical study of that Med:

Adverse Reactions to Cestex Serious side effects have not been noticed, not even in tolerance trials when the pets were administered approximately 11 times the normal dosage. Adverse reactions such as diarrhea, trembling or vomiting may be noticed, but they occur rarely. In the tolerance trials, such side effects were remarked only in one of 5 kittens. Since such high doses did not produce any side effects, the risk of overdose is also very low. The side effects of Cestex that are related to the stomach may determine the cat to feel uncomfortable and to lose its appetite. In order to minimize the risk of such side effects, it is highly recommended to feed the cat before administering Cestex. If the side effects occur and persist, you need to talk to a veterinarian, so that complications are avoided. However, most of the side-effects disappear once the treatment is ended.

(I do not consider one in five rarely, in a full trial that would be a 20% chance)

I do not know what artificial trees are made from, but I have read that cellophane when digested by a cats turns into a glass like substance in their stomach/small intestine.
