We lost Travis today.  Here's Travis' story:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/271813/our-old-boy-travie

He had already lost his best friend Molly in June, and then his companion Jake went, less than a month ago.  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/287862/jake-02-01-00-11-11-14

It's just so hard losing three of our four inherited kitties within six months, and I have to admit--Travis was my favorite.  He was so affectionate, smart, and wise--he adapted to his new life here faster than any of his companions, even at his advanced age.

I loved this old boy so much, it's very hard accepting that he's gone.  But I have to remember--this kitty was rescued from a shelter by our good friend 17 years ago and lived a wonderful life with her until her passing, and then with us for the last two years of his life.  He was only about 3 months shy of 19 years old.

RIP Travis--you'll be forever missed.

Oh, @betsygee. My heart sank reading this. I guess this is one of the hardest things about having multiple senior kitties.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I do remember you talking about Travis quite a bit. He certainly was a much-loved old boy who lived his days to the fullest. I hope the fourth kitty that you inherited is doing okay, having lost three of it's housemates.

Rest in peace, Travis.

He was an awesome cat.  :)  Hannah is the last "man" standing of the inherited kitties.  She's 11-1/2 but thankfully healthy.  Since we set up separate housing for them, she never really was integrated with our resident cats. We are working on that now, and I am hoping that she will spend her last years hanging out with new friends.

Best of luck with Hannah.
Maybe Molly, Jake, and Travis will visit her in her dreams (as they sometimes do for us) and give her the courage to make new friends.

I'm so sorry for your loss, to lose one is heartbreaking, but three I can't even imagine. They were so fortunate to have you when their owner passed, I admire you greatly for 'inheriting' these beautiful seniors and making their last days so wonderful. I wish you many more healthy, happy years with Hannah, they are each so precious in their own way. You will surely be blessed for your big heart, and so many kitties to meet at the Rainbow Bridge, it will be amazing! Please know I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers, people such as you always get a special prayer for your kind heart. I'm so sorry you once again have to say goodbye to a special member of your family, but please be comforted knowing you gave them such good care and love in their lives. Take care......... RIP beautiful Travis!

May God bless you forever for taking in an older cat! So few people do that and it's so sad. Having lost my baby Rascal, this was something Hubbie and I were talking about recently. Not that we are ready now, still in the depths of grief. But I think it's something I would do now, sometime in the future. We came close last year when we ran across a beautiful and very sad orange MC. His family had left him to move to Hawaii! My God, I could never leave my babies, no matter what.
I've lost three since the end of September, and it's been a nightmare for me.
Elders or not, doesn't make it any easier......but I'm so glad that Travis and the others had you as their guardian Angel. Much love to you for your beautiful warm and open heart. RIP Travis, and I hope all our loved ones are together and happy now.
