Picky cats with toys?

So I have noticed that 1 of my 3 cats is very picky with what they play with. He will only play with those tiny colored Hartz mice. The oldest one will play with just about anything that moves and the girl will play with almost anything but loved the jingle ball bells the most.

Does anyone else have a cat that will only play with one type of toy? He is 2 so he is still young.

Have you tried something like  [product="18617"]Da Bird Cat Toy[/product]  ? It allows you to move the toy without touching it with your hands and many cats enjoy chasing that.

Late to the thread! Surprised more people have not weighed in on this.

Our two are very picky. They each have very specific toys they like to play with, but we can never predict what will catch their interest, or how long they will remain interested in a given toy.

We keep a pile of toys in the corner of the living room for them to sort through, probably a dozen or so. We rotate them every few weeks. They usually pick a favorite and stick with it for awhile - sometimes until it disintegrates, sometimes just for a week.

We pick up new toys for them regularly, but we have learned to be frugal. Some of their toys are just odd scraps of rope, a scrap of cardboard, a cork, etc. The one rule I have is no toys that will hurt if I step on them walking barefoot through the house in the middle of the night: I am sure you can imagine how that rule came about!

This is our Bengal Makena, he is playing with a balled up bit of paper. About two feet behind him is a pile of toys we specially bought for him!

Some cats are just picky. Our last cat preferred white toy mice and hot pink toys (though cats supposedly can't see red tones). Mogli likes Da Bird sometimes and will bat balls around when he's excited about dinnertime approaching, but the only bought toys he plays with every day are furry little mice, preferably with a bell inside.

Cats tend to be picky. Not so much with toys, but they still will be picky. Some cats are so picky that they'll only have one sort brand of cat food. It's normal, don't worry.
