One of my local pet food stores gave me a sample pack of Oma's Pride Purr! frozen raw food today. I'm just wondering if anyone's tried it. It's complete food and, I think, pretty new. (I didn't find it on their Web site, though I only did a casual search.) I think it sells for $4.99 for 12 ounces.

The ingredients start with chicken breast meat, chicken necks, turkey hearts, turkey gizzards, turkey liver colostrum... and then the list switches to nutrients.

I'm interested to see how our cats like it. They get Rad Cat and Primal every day and love them, but they get bored easily so it would be great to have more variety in their raw rotation.

Thanks!

I added them to the reviews section, so when you're ready, it would be awesome if you can share your opinion of these products here -

Thanks, Anne! The food I have is different -- it's frozen rather than freeze-dried and doesn't have salmon -- but I can't find the new Purr food on the Oma's Pride Web site. (I find their site confusing, probably because so many of their products are frozen raw meats that can be supplemented for either cats or dogs.)

I'll wait, in any case, to write a review for the Review section of the site... I've only fed a small amount of this food to the cats. They loved it, though, almost as much as Rad Cat and just as much as Stella & Chewy's frozen.

I'm sorry this wasn't the product. I did look around their website and the other products appeared to be raw meats which I guess they ship around the US. If you find a page for it, let me know and I'll be glad to add it!

No problem! I'll keep watching for a page... I want to see the nutritional information.

My Russian Siberian kitten started on Oma's Pride rabbit with bones (ground twice)From breeder. He was not crazy about it until I added raw chicken from Trader Joes. He gets Platinum vitamin supplement, dried turkey heart, FortyFlora, L-Lycine,and likes goats milk at this point. Oma's pride has distributors in some parts of the US. Unfortunately Oma's Pride does not ship raw meat directly. And their products seem of good quality.  I ordered more for him from a distributor called  The K9schoice.com. (a distributor)  I realize the benefits of raw diets for cats. As I have never had a kitten with so much energy and personality.  The problem is I'm going broke on this diet. Kitten's nutrition is my utmost concern but I'm now trying to add a quality canned food (without supplements) for variety so it is easier on my pocketbook. Plus he will not be so dependent on this food source. I tried Stella & Chewy's and Instinct, which was a no go. Has anyone else used two food sources like this? Without interfering with all the other nutritional needs?  Needing some advice for my little doll (Oden) who at 4 months is eating like a Horse!

@cameo2015, I can't answer your question because I only feed complete, commercial raw foods to our cats so don't have any experience in balancing nutrients for homemade food. There are lots of Cat Site members who do make food for their cats, though, so I might suggest opening a new thread in the Raw & Home-Cooked forum, perhaps with a few more details about what, exactly, you're feeding your cat. (I'm not sure the Oma's Pride "Purr" thread title will be a big draw for your question since it's not a very common food and it's already complete!)

Just trying to do the best thing. My breeder is an older Russian lady ,doesn't  really want to be bothered with a lot of questions. Breeds Siberians only once a year. They are beautiful quality kittens. TICA and CFA certified. I am not new to raising kittens but I do see a difference in kittens that are fed raw.   Thanks for your response!  LisaHE!

Yes, raw food is great for cats: our two get about 60% raw food, the rest canned, and one cat's coat got much, much softer after we weaned them off their dry food. (The other just has finer, softer fur to begin with.) I'd love to see a photo of your kittens if you have one. And it's funny that your cats' breeder is Russian--I'm a translator who works from Russian to English!

Good luck with the feeding. It took us some time (months!) to settle our two into their food routine.

Yes, that is funny!  Oden is bilingual! But I know no Russian. Breed started in1990 here. Breeder sites have pictures. Most are Russian, and have waiting lists. The silver and golden are rare and sought after. Oden will be a silver, only 3 breeders in CA I think. The breed is hearty, and is on the bigger side, but remain with a sweet kitten like face, have a ruff around the neck, take 5 years to fully mature. They do have a history. For the people of Russia were not suppose to have pets. These cats acclimated to harsh winter climates to survive. They are talkative with chirps and sprite like sounds (love it) Some Russian fairy tales speak of these cats with children. So lovely speaking with you. And what a coincidence!
