hi guys , my 5 months cat is very sick ! he has diarrhea and he keeps vomiting and he refuses to eat i try to force him to eat with a syringe but it's not working because he refuses to swallow ! i took him to the vet  and he gave him injection but that made it worse cuz before the injection he could eat a little !!! now he's so weak he can"t even move !

i think the cause of his disease is probably something he ate outside or something he caught from other cats

i'm so scared i don't wanna lose him

Can you call the vet that initially seen him and explain he is getting worse not better? My Oldest boy had a really bad bought of Colitis. My vet did labs, xray, gave him a steroid,  antibiotic and fluids.  I had to put Pediolyte in his water, next day he still would not eat. She called me to check on him and when he still would not eat she gave me an appetite stimulant that I could give him once every three days.  That worked for him.  There are a lot of people experienced with helping cats that will not eat. Wishing you luck with your baby! I get very scared when something is wrong with my babies also.

I wish you the very best.  Stay online, I know there are many people on here with lots of cat experience, hopefully they can help you more than I can.  I am very lucky in that my neighbor is my vet. I know when any of my babies are sick I can't sleep and spend all night watching over them.

Go under Forums and cat health. Look for post Sick baby kitten :( . @catwoman707  advice. I have heard the baby food needs to be chicken with no additives like onion. I am sorry I am new here also and I do not know how to post a link to a thread.

Abby yes the baby food with no onions.  Surprisingly it's a little tricky to find, but I finally found some with only beef or chicken.  Hopefully you are getting some water down him with the syringe.  It's so hard when you don't know what they might have eaten and they are so sick.  At least if he has the runs he isn't blocked.

Keep him warm. Use a hot water bottle. Keep him confined with his food, water, and litter box. If you have a dog crate or a large cat carrier, that works best. He's angry for being syringe fed, but he doesn't understand you're trying to help him and he'll forget all about it when he's better. You can mix KMR into the baby food for an extra boost. You can give him syringefuls of Nutri-Cal. No matter what, get him to the veterinarian as soon as you can. If he'll teach you to do fluids yourself, the better, because then you can do it at home.

At 5 months old, your kitten doesn't have much body weight or resources for maintaining hydration, which is critical and will take him down fast, and can actually kill him, I don't mean to scare you but in a way maybe I am, I want you to understand how serious this is right now.

Vomiting and diarrhea, along with not eating or drinking, think about that, everything coming out, nothing going in.

His organs will start shutting down unless he can get hydrated ASAP.

I need to ask, has he had any of his vaccines?

Is he fixed?

Where did he come from and when?

How long has this been going on? When did he see a vet?

You said he is so weak he can't even move, well that is dehydration. At this point there is no way you can get enough fluids into him to rehydrate him, he must receive sub-Q fluids under the skin.

I hear you love him so please listen to me, he NEEDS fluids now.

Can you look at the receipt and tell what it says?

Need to know what they were for.

Probably anti-nausea and appetite stimulant.

He can so easily get sick without an FVRCP vaccine, since by 5 months he no longer has any protection from his mom's antibodies.

The milk, is it regular milk?

If so, this makes the diarrhea worse, so do not give him anymore of that.

If you can get to a grocery store go now and buy some chicken baby food and right next to it will be pediolyte.

You will be syringing him a mix of 50/50, warm it in the microwave a bit. Take your time, wrap him snugly in a towel with his arms under it too so he can't fight much, and slowly syringe him the mix. Into his cheek, so he doesn't choke, and syringe a mix of 1/2 jar with the same amt of pediolyte into him.

You should see him perk up a bit after doing this.

If you want you can also take a fingertip and dip it into honey, or clear karo syrup and rub it on his gums. This will help get his blood going again.

Then syringe feed him.

No, not an injection.

There is no needle, the syringe looks like the kind you would give an injection with, but with out the needle.

It's so you can make up the pediolyte and chicken baby food, warm it up, and put the tip of the syringe into it and suck it up so the body of the syringe is filled.

Then take the kitty, wrap a towel around him sort of like a baby, and when you push the tip gently on the side of his mouth, he will have to open it, then put the syringe into his mouth and gently squirt small amounts at a time into the cheek area rather than down his throat or he might choke.

If you do not have a syringe for this, until you can get one in the morning you can also use an eye dropper, but the problem with that is it will only hold a very small amount of the mix.

Do not give anymore milk though, it makes the diarrhea worse.

If you can get enough water into him he will make it overnight, but soon, he needs fluids as soon as possible to save him.

Abby please let me know if my advice is clear to you. If needed I can translate to Arabic.

If you don't understand syringe then just get the small jars of PLAIN chicken or turkey baby food made by Gerber or Beechnut. Look in the baby section and you will find it. Open the jar and scoop out baby food on your finger. Then with free hand from behind his head force his mouth open by pushing your fingers between his back teeth. When he opens his mouth smear the baby food in with the other hand. Keep doing this for half a jar. I believe he will need half jar twice a day. But @catwoman707 may have better info on the amount he will need per day.

Afterward you need to get water into him. Anything you can squirt water is good - syringe is best if you can find one at the pet shop. Ask the clerk they can find it for you.

Keep a roll of paper towels at your side. It can get messy...... BUT DO IT!

Diluted water from tuna, or broth from boiled chicken/beef are good for getting a cat to drink. These were the tricks that I used with Matt when he was ill and wouldn't drink. The broth will contain some nutrients from the meat, too.

Another thing that you could try is to take a can of cat food Pate, and ad water until you have a gravelly liquid/ runny paste.  You can shringe-feed this to a lethargic cat if need be, about 1cc at a time, over a few minutes. Even if the cat's not swallowing, the food/paste will run down the throat.
