....It doesn't seem to hurt him or bother him too much although wondering if anyone has any ideas of things I could try before  I take him to the Vet....to save some money!

Thanks very much!

Hi and welcome to The Cat Site!

I uploaded your pictures directly instead of those links - a lot of people won't clink on links like that!

He's a handsome fellow.
My first thought would be food allergies. His lip looks like my friend's cat who has an allergic reaction to poultry products. What food are you feeding him? Is that the only spot that's balding like that?

Thank you Pushlady for you comments. I had wondered about a food allergy as well...sometimes he eats dried food, sometimes wet.  I've switched him to just dry - he has eaten this food since he was a kitten one year ago and there's never been a problem....and it's chicken-based.  Yes - that 's the only spot where he's balding like that.

Hi Detmut...no, he doesn't scratch it.  He doesn't seem to be really bothered by it...I pressed my finger on it and there was no sign of pain that I could see.  It started out as more of a swollen lip....puffy, although now has leveled to what you see in the pics.

any other thought appreciated....he's had it for about a week now.

Hi. I'm new here. I have a 4 month old Maine Coon mix that has a swollen bottom lip as well. He eats fine and it doesn't seem to bother him but it does seem to be getting bigger. He has a metal food bowl and a plastic water bowl. Should we take him to the vet?

Vet trip seems to be in order for both your kitties...

It could be an allergy or something that I am not aware of..

Members will be on shortly to advise you better.

good luck, keep us updated.
