Very surprised my cat is in labor again. Any advice would be great!

My Queen had her first litter 9 weeks ago, 4 healthy kittens and 1 runt. All kitts have since found homes.

Last week i thought she may be pregnant again, her tummy is still small though. I know they can go on heat straight away and she has been out side for the occasional 10 minutes during the day. I really thought she would be ok though.

Silly me. I had her booked in for desexing next week

She is acting similiar to when she gave birth last time. I was her assistant so she's very smoochy with me. She has been walking a little funny with her tail down and back legs low. Very vocal today too! Eating and drinking fine. No discharge and I'm not sure if waters have broken.

Could she possibly have gotten pregnant whilst pregnant with her first litter? & if that's the case perhaps this litter only has 1 or 2 kittens as her tummy is so small?

I'm just hoping it's not premature labor? She doesn't seem to have had any contractions yet either, just sleeping now in her box.

My friend gave her to me pregnant and at the time nobody knew she was.

Yeah, its fully possible she is high preg.  You see, they dont happen to get out, unluckily precisely when they are in heat. Its the opposite, they sneak out BECAUSE they are in heat, and feel / hear a tom outside calling...   So 10 minutes may be enough yes.   Not because maximal unluck, but per definition.   That is, if the tom is  decently experienced.   :)

It can be some precontractions, it can be beginning of labor.  If she is high preg, so she is high preg.  Just to prepare for all eventualities.    You if somebody, know what to do, yes?    :)

Most of our forumist  are first-timers.

Good luck!  @Jazziebelle

Cats are pregnant for 9 weeks and can go into heat again right after giving birth. . .she wouldn't have been able to get pregnant while still pregnant with the other litter but it could have happened right after.

It would be best to get her in to see the vet for a checkup. The vet can tell you if she's pregnant or if something else is going on.

Thanks for your replies. After i posted last night she began behaving normal again, running, jumping, playing etc.

Now this morning her back legs are staying low again. It seems strange so i'll just book her in for a vet appointment this afternoon. I'll keep you posted.

& yeah once she's in actual labor I've got it covered

It sounds more like she's in that state of unrequited lust more commonly known as 'in season'! Mine used to get it real bad, barely able to stand, almost crawling (as you describe), and very vocal. About the same length of time after a litter, too.

Can it be as Catergic tells, this is her in heat?     Im almost ready to accept this theory - but it depends on your own knowledge of how she usually behaves while in heat - respective while being high preg...

YOU being there must decide which.   Taking her to the vet is a way to solve the question too.   :)

Oh gosh I hope she's just in heat!!! Taking her to the Vet tomorrow afternoon. Ive never seen her heat before as she was pregnant when we got her.

I thought I felt movement in her tummy though...
fingers crossed it was all her minced meat.

Just wanted to let you know that she was just on heat. Phewwwww. NOT PREGNANT.

Now she has been vaccinated, micro-chipped and is booked in for neuter in 2 weeks. Hooray

I was just about to tell you that it sounds like she's in heat. The things you experienced with her is very comon for a cat in heat; very vocal, funny tail, dragging her tummy on the floor, asking attention etc.

Happy to see she isn't pregnant (It's just way too soon for her), just make sure to not let her outside in the following 2 weeks (or in the yard only where you can see her) just in case, you do not want to get her pregnant again ^^

Good advice here, you will need to keep a strict eye on all possible ways for her to get out as she will take every oportunity she can to escape.    Make sure everyone knows doors and windows have to be kept closed, and anyone going in and out check she is not hiding anywhere near.  Hope all goes well until her vet appointment, it can be so hard watching them when they are in heat, and to listen to them if vocal.

Things will be so much better when she's been spayed. She'll also feel better.
