I am going to try to put my girl on all wet for the second time tomorrow. Last time was a disaster that ended with her being constipated (yes on wet and yes it is weird).

I am going to continue to use her dry as a treat/snack until it is gone. Words if advice and encouragement are welcome as I walk into certain kitty doom tomorrow.

Please share stories of your kitty transitions from all dry to all wet or from 50 wet/50 dry to all wet here - from hilarious to sad to utterly confusing.

I feel for you. Our last cat was a dry food fanatic from the time he was weaned. The foster family fed canned, but left dry out for the mother cat to munch on, and that's what Jamie liked.

It took ages and a lot of trial and error to get him to at least eat 1/2 wet. He was very picky. First and foremost was the size of the can. If it was bigger than 3 oz. he wouldn't eat. That seemed strange until somebody who worked for a pet food producer pointed out that food was cooked in the can, so a smaller can meant less cooking time and more flavor. Jamie would only eat shredded varieties in spring water with at most 1% rice or vegetables, and it couldn't be the same stuff he'd already eaten that week. (It was the same with dry - he wouldn't eat the same brand more than twice a week.)

A lot of people told me to offer canned only, because he would eventually get hungry enough to eat it. They obviously didn't have neighbors complaining about a screaming cat.

There are 72 cats at our shelter right now, and surprisingly only four - 3 adults and a young kitten - that refuse canned food. Most of them don't like chunks or slices in gravy.
