Hello everyone,
I am sorry I started a thread on the forum without introducing myself first, so let me rectify.
I have always loved animals. In my native country of Italy with a huge stray cat problem, I rescued stray cats and kittens entirely on my dime, with the kind help of friends who donated food, and a wonderful vet who did much spaying, neutering and other health services almost for free and also taught me much in terms of medical care: how to administer various types of medicines, how to do intramuscular injections, how to give subcutaneous fluids, etc.
When I moved to the US I placed all the cats and kittens in new homes except for 3, which had been hand raised since they were a week old, which I brought with me. They were my faithful companions for several years. The last passed two weeks ago at the ripe age of 19 and a half.
I was so devastated I decided I didn't want any more cats, but then I started missing a furry companion madly, so yesterday my husband dragged me to the Animal Shelter and we adopted 2 beautiful black kittens, brother and sister, 3 month old. I can't believe people still have a problem with black cats, but we were told they are more likely to be abandoned and harder to place. People are silly.
Of course going from my geriatric little friend who could barely move and slept 23 hours a day to 2 little Energizer bunnies has been a lot of fun. The boy is a klutz and a maniac while the girl is a bit more shy but they are 2 purring machines and in a few hours they were already roaming comfortably in their new house.
And so begins another adventure...
