Remy is about four and a half months old. Saturday night while I was at work my boyfriend fed him a can of tuna cat food. (Fancy feast). He has never had it before. My boyfriend said
Not even 20 minutes after eating this he threw up twice. I just assumed the new food didn't agree with him. Sunday morning we drove to my parents house to stay there for a night. It's an hour drive.
Last night (Sunday night) I woke up in the middle of the night to him sort of gagging.. Like he was about to throw up. (But he didn't).

We just got back to my apartment (another hour drive) and he threw up when we got here. Just bile ( he hadn't yet eaten)

Should I be concerned? Is it probably just the new food and driving that's caused it? He's acting okay otherwise.

I would immediately go back to the old food, or some baby food chicken stage one and observe him overnight and report back.

Well... I think I found the cause. A pile of throw up and some worms in it when I arrived home from work.

Remy will have a trip to the vet as soon as I can get him in. Out vet is an hour away so at the latest it will be Monday but I will try and get him in before then.

I'm just frustrated because the rescue I adopted him from assured me he had been wormed.. My fault for not taking him to the vet right away I suppose. I was just waiting for him to be fully settled in.

Luckily my other kitten Boone has been treated with revolution for the past 3 or 4 months so he should be good.

Depending on the parasite load at the time he was rescued, they may simply not have wormed him thoroughly enough. Some rescues will do first worming and then the rest is up to you, others will insist on doing more. They should have given you the dates of the wormings, what he was wormed for, and the wormer used, written down in his health record.

Well I just emailed the rescue, well it's really more of our local TNR program. No actual shelter, adoptable cats/kittens go straight to foster homes.

Anyway, I emailed and she emailed back telling me he was last wormed October 16th. And she also offered to give me another dose of the medicine! My mom is picking it up tomorrow and he will get it Wednesday night. Not sure what kind it is but will find out then.

I'm not too worried as he's still running, playing, eating, and using his litter box. He will still be seeing the vet either this Monday or next. In another month or two he will also be neutered!

I think his tummy might be a little bloated. That or he's a bit chubby. It's hard to tell because he's got such long
Fluffy hair

Worms will cause bloating and gas.  Most likely, due to the life cycle of the parasites, he'll need one or two additional wormings.  Good idea to contact the rescue!

I'm very impressed they offered me another worming - the adoption contract I signed says that any medical costs are mine to cover after adoption. It really is a great group!
