Does anybody have an "Omafiets" or "Opafiets" (Dutch bicycle)?

If so, are you pleased with it? I ordered one yesterday to use around town. Most days I have a 25-minute walk to the animal shelter on the outskirts of town (the other end of town, of course!), and those 50 - 60 minutes are really cutting into my days, especially when I have to go in twice. We don't have or want a second car, I'm too ecology-minded to drive such a short distance, anyway, and I like the exercise.

I haven't had any luck with 10-speeds or mountain bikes, which I find too complicated and repair-prone. Maybe a sturdy one-speed with a foot brake like the Omafiets will be more "my speed". :cross: The route I use is relatively flat and along side streets and a bike path.

Does that mean "grandma" and "grandpa" bike? :lol3: Cute! I picture something like this:

It looks very comfortable and great for the purpose you intend.

I love those bikes! Don't know where you live, but where I live, specialty bikes like this are highly steal able, no matter how good the lock. While you are at the animal shelter, bring the bike inside; and at home, put it in the house or the garage.

We're not allowed to bring bikes inside the shelter, but I can park it either right in front of the glass wall to the lobby, or around the side where the catios are - it would be out of sight there. I'm out of luck at home - our car barely fits in the garage, so the bikes have to stay outside in the winter. :lol3:
