I don't want my cat to be sedated, he has plaque and tartar, I found this:

What do you suggest?
I've read bad reviews for the water additives, that's why I thought of using this, for a week or so only, not for life time.

Thanks.

I don't know of anything that will fix a cat's teeth if they are bad enough that they need a dental procedure.  And I would be very cautious about this product, even the company that sells it makes no claim about how it works, or if it works.  Many of the reviews for the product are poor.  It contains alcohol at 25%, that's 50proof, not much weaker than whisky.  Read the one star reviews and see how many people had very sick animals after using this. Proceed with caution.

Cats who need a dental are at risk of heart disease and other problems if they don't get it, and they generally tolerate the sedation very well, anda blood test prior helps the vet know if they are ok for the procedure.  Dentals  are standard procedure and work.  If a dental rinse would remove bad plaque then we'd be using it too and I wouldn't need a dentist.

Is there a particular reason you are concerned about the anesthetic?  Is your cat overly sensitive to drugs, or does it have some other medical complication?

My vet uses sevoflurane.  It is used on infants, is easily discontinued if there are any adverse reactions, and clears the system quickly.

Take a look at my quick notes on dental procedures

As Stephen mentioned, delaying dental care can lead to larger complications down the road.  I wouldn't rely on a product that doesn't really back itself up.  As my Gran'ma would say, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is."
