the best part about Christmas is when everyone is done opening their gifts and they hop in the the boxes, its like a new present for them!

Haha--it's true!  The leftover boxes and paper are all the gifts most kitties need.

my babies are getting 2!!!! big cat trees. One is max 73 inches height and the other is 60 inches height. They're also getting new toys, and cat beds!! well not really a cat bed. i got them a huge dog bed which i'm hoping they will share....but we'll just have to see. Thank goodness for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. All of these items came out to less than 200 and shipping was free. On PetSmart.

That is adorable! I'd love to see a video of yours playing with it too!

It sounds like it's big and noisy, but what the heck, I bought it anyway. Kitty's been wanting for a new toy anyway, he doesn't seem to be interested in toys anymore.

My little guy is getting a stocking with toys and treats. I also got him a heated bed... which I was so excited about that I gave it to him early! He loves it and I know exactly where to find him when I come home from work!

Autumn doesn't need a thing, she has toys all over the bedroom that she rarely play with.  I recently bought her a new litter box and wand toy which she loves.

I think steps that will go up to the bed. We have noticed that it's getting more difficult for BooBoo, esp, to make the jump; his arthritis is slowly getting worse. Pepe is still Ok, but it's probably only a matter of time before she starts having trouble, too. We're going to look around and see what we can find for them.
That's why I bought the small cat tree.  It kind of has more of a "step" feel to it, 3 graduated levels stopping just about the height of the window.  Casper really isn't able to jump up high anymore.  Even our bed, which has a larger mattress has become difficult for him to get up on most days.  He'll stand there and wait for us to lift him most times.  Not that we mind.

I took a nice, "brisk" (read: COLD AND WINDY) 40 minute walk to get my cats' gift from the holding office for UPS since I missed the delivery attempt yesterday. Since cats don't know what day it is anyway, I opened it up and gave them an early Merry Christmas. Mo's first idea was to get on the Amazon box and start trying to scratch it, but I might reuse that box for a Secret Santa so I took it away.

Here are the first impressions:

Sorry for the SUPER lame YouTube music - boyfriend was watching a stream with some profanity in it, and uploading directly from my phone didn't let me bring the audio down.

After the video, we rearranged it so the ramps are more spread out. Mo gave it a couple bats, but it looks like it's more or less Kismet's toy. Mo does get really excited watching her have fun and has been stalking and chasing her whenever she starts having a good time. It's gotten to the point that we have to stop him because she's getting angry that she can't enjoy herself and is always so taken aback by his pounces since she doesn't want to play rough with him. He's a little jerk!

OMGoodness! Our Tabby would just love that, pinkdagger! That's a great toy!

The steps for Boo and Pepe have been shipped, so they should get here soon. We're putting them in the bedroom at the bed to help Boo get up without having to jump.

That's what I reckon!  No matter what I've given Mouse in the past he's been more interested in the boxes and ribbons about the place than the stuff he was meant to play with.   Guess that's mostly what he gets now, boxes and wrapping because I know that's what he likes.  This year  have bought him a little kitty stocking that I might put a couple of new toys in too though.  Loving the look of this remote mouse @Natalie_ca!
Definitely going to check that out.

Tee hee, so Santa arrived at your place early @pinkdagger
It's SO hard once the stuff is in the home isn't it - you just want to see them have fun...  I'm trying so hard to stay on the lightside this year but it's hard.

Love being able to see how the light up circuit ball works, the basic circuit has been one of Mouse's favourite toys since I got once when he was about 6 months old but hadn't seen what the fancy one worked like.  Maybe I'll invest in one of the light balls now I see what it's like!   He already gets so excited by the basic ball circuit he gets hold of it in his mouth and drags it about trying to get the ball out.
It's about the only toy he'll play with on his own which is a great investment from my perspective.  Looks like you might have a little circuit fan in your home too.

I hope she continues to like it! She does love the Turbo Scratcher and will play with that on her own all the time, so this is just something similar she can enjoy. If Mouse is a fan of the regular circuit, I'm sure this one will be a hit too! I love watching cats play using their mouths - it's so adorable. It was around $30 when I bought it, which considering the size and material is a bit overpriced (the cats can paw and nudge up the lids of the tracks. Even in the video, I had to fix two) so I would say it's a good buy, but a better buy on sale. :p

I would love to see everyone else's kitties' gifts as they receive them!

Mo on the other hand has already had his Christmas gift revoked. Since he fails at toys, I wound up giving him the Amazon box and the packing paper that was inside of it. We made a paper wall for him in the hallway since he loves it. The only problem is he only - ONLY - plays with it at 1:30am. We're lying in bed and all we hear is LOUD paper crumpling, he's pawing at it vigorously, interspersed with HOWLING and LOUD meows. As soon as one of us wakes up first, he comes running to us (if it's me, that means it's anywhere between 4:45am and 8am). Once he's excited, he goes and starts pawing and yowling again, and then whenever I go into the hallway, he runs through the paper and takes a few pieces on his head to drag up the hallway, crumpling the whole way. This is not conducive to our sleep. Sorry bud, if you're gonna be stupid, you don't even get the garbage paper anymore.

Might put it out in the daytime after both of us are awake and put it away when I go to bed. But he's lost those privileges for now.

when i read what you're giving your boo and pepe for christmas, it was an "awwwww" moment for me. i love to hear about people making things a little easier for senior cats. for my snick, i have a series of step stools set near places she likes to jump up to, to make the jump easier with her arthritis. snick uses her step stools every day.

Awww, thanks mickNsnicks2mom. They're senior kids now and well, we need to take care of them as much as we can. We don't know if Boo will use them or not. I have a feeling that somebody will probably try sleeping on them!

Boo likes to take a morning nap on my kitchen chair after he's done with his breakfast and his bathing. He used to be able to jump into the chair even though it's always been pulled into the table. A few weeks ago, he missed the jump and fell on the floor. It made us feel terrible! It just broke my heart. So now we keep my chair pulled out from the table a bit, so that he can jump with less problems.

He used to sleep on the back of the couch, but right after he fell during his jump onto my chair, he fell off the back of the couch. The problem is that our couch is right next to the railing at the steps going down to the front door. So not only did he fall off the back of the couch, but he hit the railing, then he rolled down the steps. He was OK, but lesson learned. We moved the couch away from the railing and put a soft bed on the floor behind the couch (it's their big old dog bed that I used to keep on top of the fridge so that Pepe could lay up there and be comfy; Pepe used to love laying on top of the fridge.). Now, if he falls, he'll fall on the pillow. It looks silly in the living room, but Boo's safety is more important than how the room looks. We can't keep him off the back of the couch, but we can try to make it better for him if he falls.

He's old. He needs to be kept safe as long as we can do it.
