How big will my cat be? Is there such a thing as a tabby panther?

I took in a stray several months ago and I need help finding out his breed (or breeds). (I was kidding about the panther thing.) His name is Kenzie. He's grown quite a bit and I was wondering how big he'll be. I imagine he's an American Short Hair. I was hoping someone could tell me what other breeds could be in him. His personality is unlike any cat I've ever owned and I was curious about what makes him different than my short-haired calico.

His physical characteristics: I know he's a tabby, but while I was researching cat breeds I discovered that tabby is a color pattern, not a breed. He's Tan/Grey/Black (more tan than the last 3 photos show). He has a bit of white only around his mouth and eyes. His eyes are gold. The top 2 photos were taken the first day I had him (we suspect he was about 8 weeks old). The bottom 2 are more recent, although I have not taken a photo in the last month and a half. He is 5-6 months old but he's grown so much! He eats like a horse but he's very slender. He's already larger than my 8-year old calico. I don't know how much he weighs, but when he stands, he's 11-12 inches from the floor to his shoulders. (It was hard to be sure because he kept trying to play with the measuring tape.) He measures 15 inches along his back from the base of his head to the base of his tail. I don't know if that helps. He's long and lanky and seems heavy footed when he jumps or walks on me. His belly fur is a little longer and scruffier than the rest of him. The pads of his feet are chocolate brown and the light stripes of fur are darker at the base. The bridge of his nose seems broad to me. His fur is very soft, but that could be because he's still a kitten.

Pertaining to his personality: He is very vocal--not afraid to meow--but he mostly purrs. If he's in my arms or laying near me, he is purring so loudly that he can be heard across the room. It seems like he's been purring constantly since I found him. He bonded with my other cat and my dog immediately. He seems to have bonded with me more than the other 3 members of my family, although he likes them all. He is pretty social and doesn't mind if people drop by. He's very friendly and will let anyone hold him. He begs for food (even stealing my cheesy potatoes when I wasn't looking). He seems pretty smart--investigating absolutely everything. He has 2 speeds: Incredibly playful our sound asleep. He plays with anything he can find and he carries all sorts of things in his mouth. (He carried a large, one pound skein of yarn down the stairs and through the house last week.) If he is awake, he is constantly playing, running, jumping or eating. He loves catching mice. When he's not doing those things, he's sleeping--and he falls asleep in the weirdest positions. He loves being held but he doesn't help me hold him if that makes any sense--he just sort of drapes himself across me like he's gone boneless (purring the whole time, of course). He also demands my attention sometimes. If I'm sleeping (and he doesn't think I should be) he meows in my face, pokes me with his paw, licks my nose, ear or chin, or plops down on my face--all the while purring like a motor. He also nudges my hand sometimes when we're sitting on the couch so I'll pet him. He is nothing at all like my short-haired calico. She's content to just curl up someone and sleep or watch the birds. Another thing I thought was interesting: He likes being cradled like a baby and having his belly rubbed. I've never known a cat to lay on his back so someone would rub his belly until he falls asleep.
