I have recently become the owner to a one month old kitten, he is very healthy, expect for a patch of skin on his nose. Can anyone help me figure out what is is and how to help him? It doesnt seem to bother him at all, just looks bad.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with anything like that.  I just wanted to say welcome to the site!  I hope someone comes along soon who can help you.

Congrats on the adoption. Skin issues are VERY difficult to diagnose, many look similar and the vet book on skin issues is like 500 pages long.  Can you get him to a vet?  And how did you obtain him?

I would prefer to not take him to a vet if I don't have to. As a cost thing. I got him from someone I went to school with, I don't know them that well but he seems very healthy. I'm gonna try polysporin

Are you sure this is a one month old baby?

If so, that is crust on his nose from diving in to the food dish.

I see it all the time when I am weaning babies off of nursing and on to canned food from a dish.

It almost needs to be scrubbed off but don't, you don't want to damage that tissue.

If you put something that will soften it up it should clean off easily. Like a dab of vaseline maybe, but don't leave it there or allow kitten to consume it, it's just for a few minutes to soften, otherwise leave it alone, and when he is older and grooming his face after eating it will be washed off that way.

It almost seems like a scab doesn't it? :)
