With the colder weather my cat has been having more frequent asthma attacks. She is on prednisolone and I had to up her dose to 2.5 mg every other day.  Although she is still having asthma attacks at least once per day.

I know the cold dry air is wreaking havoc on everyone's sinuses, as I have been having sinus issues as well.

My vet has mentioned switching her to an inhaler.  Has anyone gone that route and how expensive is it per month?

My previous cat used inhaled Flovent 220 mcg with the Aerokat device. The Flovent 22 mcg cost about $200 from the pharmacy at the vet hospital. At a regular Human pharmacy the cost was about $50 more. The two lower strength Flovent inahlers may cost a little less. The vet will prescribe a certain strength for your cat depending on how severe the asthma is. I think I bought the Flovent every other month? The AeroKat device was about $50 at the time (several years ago) and I bought it from here: http://www.trudellmed.com/animal-health/aerokat You may be able to find it on Amazon.com and other places for less.

I have/had 2 asthmatic cats (one has since passed away from cancer).

The vet had a prescription filled for Ventolin 50mg for the one cat (who passed) along with the AeroKat spacer. You could price the Ventolin (or equivalent) through different places including your local pharmacies that fill pet meds (Sav-ons, Rite-aid ect.)

The other asthmatic cat (who is still with me) takes Theophylline tablets (1/2 pill 2x daily). He can't take any steroids because of heart problems.

No doubt the weather isn't helping. Poor baby.

I came across this and from the reviews it seems to be a miracle for some cats with asthma.

My cat hasn't been diagnosed, but I think she has mild asthma. Every couple of months she suddenly developes rapid breathing. That is the only symptom...about 60 breaths a minute. No cough or struggling to breath. I've been treating with colloidal silver at 1 tsp 2x a day. She goes back to normal breathing within 3 days. I've ordered this product to see if it will help. It is supposedly 100% safe.

60 breaths per minute is very serious and while the fact that it resolves is encouraging, it could be a symptom of a serious underlying condition including congestive heart failure as an example.

The first time it happened I took Mosi to the vet. X-rays and blood test were done. Blood test great, but X-rays showed slight inflammation in one lung. Vet thought it would go away on its own. No fluid or enlarged heart found. Prescribed Onsior and antibiotic anyway. Took 6 days for breathing to go back to normal. Went back for follow up and got the all clear.
I decided to treat holistically with colloidal silver the next time it happened. Worked faster and safer.
