I came home from work and discovered that my youngest kitten(5 months) has an opened wound on his back. I'm not sure how. Maybe fighting with my other cat? Any who, it's about the size of a quarter. It's not bleeding tho. It's officially thanksgiving day so my question is... Is this serious enough to call in the vet today? Plz excuse my ignorance on the subject. If it wasn't thanksgiving I would definitely have him in there today just in case. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If it doesn't seem very deep, you can gently clean it with moist cotton swabs and apply a bit of neosporin to it... just a small bit.  The key to healing superficial wounds is to leave them alone except for occasional cleaning and ointment.  If it's in a spot that he can reach to lick at, you might need to put a cone on.

I would also say that if it doesn't scab up, continues to "weep", or seems to grow larger, get it checked by a vet for possible complications.
